FORT WALTON BEACH - It's happened again.
A Fort Walton Beach police officer found a sixth decapitated pygmy goat early Wednesday at the intersection of Holmes Boulevard and Memorial Drive.
"This animal had been killed very close to the time it was put on the ground," said Dee Thompson, director of animal services for the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society.
Thompson said feces were found at the scene, which is common when an animal dies. She also said the preservation of the crime scene leads her to believe the officer happened up on the black and white goat relatively soon after it was placed there.
And Thompson said she's sure the goat was killed by the same person or group that killed the other five. She said there are similarities that haven't been released to the public that are consistent in each incident.
"There's no doubt in my mind," Thompson said.
Investigators and PAWS had hoped to solve the case after rewards totaling thousands of dollars were pledged, but that hasn't happened. Thompson said investigators have checked out every tip they've received.
"The police are equally baffled," Thompson said. "This doesn't lend itself to any normal ritual."
The six decapitated goats were killed in similar ways and five were tossed on or near city streets not far from each other. The goats were killed at another location. The beheadings were almost surgical and the carcasses were significantly lacking blood, Thompson said. At least three of the five goats found had carefully cut leaves and twigs arranged in their mouths.
The first decapitated goat was found Aug. 26 near the intersection of Jonquil Avenue and Holmes Boulevard in Fort Walton Beach. There may have been an earlier case, but that goat's head wasn't found, Thompson said.
"You really feel like money will speak loudly," Thompson said. "It just hasn't happened. We just need someone who saw something or heard something."
If you have information about any of the decapitated goats found in the Fort Walton Beach area, call PAWS at 243-1525.
Ritual offering to our Lord Obama.
LOL!
Animal rights wacko's would do it...
Being close to Nawlins, voodoo and hoodoo are nothing new here, as is Santaria. But these don’t make any sense, even for the voodoo Santaria types.................
I agree. I was jesting.
It would seem at first glance that Santeria is the reason, but upon closer inspection of the carcasses and the scene where they are dumped, they appear to have been killed right where they are found on the street. That is not typical of Santeria sacrifices...............
The goats were killed at another location.
FWIW, I'd rather it be practioners of Santeria than some serial killer wannabe. Or Islamists.
Barack is going to be very angry if he hears of this. Goat lover that he is.
*********
Vampires....someone/something wants to drink the blood?

Well, again FWIW, do all Santeria practioners do everything by the same book?
Isn’t this the sort of thing space monsters do?
Kidding aside though, it is scary to know some nut or nuts are out there doing this. A human could be next.
The offering of a goat in sacrifice at a crossroads is a common feature of Cuban or Dominican Santeria or of Haitian Voodoo.
Some local orisha or houngan is hoping for a very important favor from one or more of his gods.
They are supposed to follow rituals that specify the humane killing of the animals, usually chickens and goats. These may be Santeria novices. A couple of years back, a bridge near here was “decorated” with pigs decapitated heads on the railings, and it happen more than once. No one was ever charged with that stuff either. It seems to be some sickos. I don’t have a problem with Santeria sacrifices, but they do tend to be messy affairs at times........
“Someone is trying to alleviate some seriously bad juju.”
Exactly!
The goat which was attacked by the radio collared cougar of the Sheeple’s Republic of Floriduh survived because I had adviced its owner to tether it under a sodium vapor light.
Being a gooberment animal, when it finally got a throat bite, it was unable to choke the goat, dropped it and the goat survived after I frightened the cat away as it returned.
Since it survived, it was of great value to the Santarea worshipers who offered thousands for it.
The cat had “Strong Juju”, and was therefore valued as a sacrificial animal.
Before anyone downs them for sacrificing a mere animal, didn’t that Obama thing throw his grandmother under a bus as a political sacrifice?
;-)
They picked some very nice neighborhoods.............
Santeria is not a very organized religion, and its rituals vary from group to group and also vary depending on what exactly the worshipper is trying to accomplish.
