LIBERAL "LOGIC"

Now here is an interesting take on the idea of "playing the race card." This is a column from uber-leftist Cynthia Tucker, the editorial page editor of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

http://www.ajc.com/opinion/content/opinion/tucker/stories/2008/08/05/tucked_0806.html

This is a newspaper with a decidedly liberal bent wondering why it is failing in a newspaper marketplace that is not liberal. As they say ... duhhhhhhh.

Anyway, working your way through Tucker's "logic" in this article we see that Barack Obama (she's obviously a huge fan) tells the voters that McCain is going to try to turn them against him because he "doesn't look like the other presidents on those dollar bills."

Now we know that Obama wasn't referring to his short hair, and other presidents have had big ears --- so there is no possibility other than the fact that Obama was referring to his race. Unless you're the editorial page editor of the AJC you will recognize this as Obama inserting race into the campaign. Not the first time he's done it, by the way. A McCain spokesman calls Obama on his tactic .. and there's Tucker ready to leap to his defense. Suddenly McCain's camp has dived deeply into the "Karl Rove playbook") with what she calls the curious claim that Barack is playing the race card.

Curious? Do any of you see this claim as curious? Obama tells the nation that the evil Republicans are going to going to try to make Americans afraid of him because he's black (no other interpretation of the dollar bill remark), the McCain camp calls him on it, and Tucker thinks that's curious?

Obama is falling in the polls. He'll rise and fall again .. but the fact that he hasn't taken the commanding lead that the Democrats think is his by right will drive them more and more toward the racial arguments and taunts in this election. Remember that black caller on my show who said that if you don't vote for Obama you're either a racist or a Nazi? I guarantee you, more of that is on the way.

By the way ... just so you know. A Wall Street Journal poll showed that a greater percentage of blacks are going to vote for Obama strictly on the basis of skin color than whites who will vote against him for the same reason. What's that about removing the plank from thine own eye?

Let's consult the scorecard. Listenership to the Neal Boortz Show in Atlanta is higher than the circulation figures for the AJC. We're owned by the same company. Get the picture?

My letter to The Constipation (that they won’t print)

Cynthia Tucker writes..

“If Obama were to be elected, he’d become the first black president in this nation’s history, a mere half-century after black Americans were beaten and bombed and fire-hosed for trying to secure the franchise or sit in the front of the bus.

..and she opines that this is remarkable.

It most certainly is remarkable, but what she fails to mention, that would make it all the more remarkable, is that the party from which Mr Obama would be elected is the very same that was operating those fire hoses and handing out those beatings!

The Democrat Party.
