I'm starting to think this is pure politics...and anti-Bush in particular.

No way they EVER want to say that Iraq was the anthrax supplier and Osama's dudes were the deliverers.

Let's see what Obama says in the next few days.

I was in DC staying at the Capital Hilton about 20 years ago.

A DC cop came in and the conversation turned to the FBI. His memorable words: The FBI has more shredders than Carter has liver pills."

Other exerpts:

“(4) The victims to whom each of the attack letters were mailed including but not limited to materials realating to NBC, New York Post, reporters Gary Matsumoto and Tom Brokaw, The National Enquirer and other publications of American Media Incorporated....”

Ivins email: “Tell Matsumoto to kiss my ass. We’ve got better things to do than shine his shoes and pee on command. He’s gotten everything from me he will get.”

They are basically saying Matsumoto also got an anthrax letter - this is either an error in their document or else he did get sent one and they found it unopened and did not disclose that.

Out of the millions and millions of pre-stamped envelopes in the USPS, a small number of them had a "tiny printing defect", and they just happened to sold in Frederick post offices during the proper time frame for the attacks?

The notion strains the bounds of credulity, if you ask me.

“The notion strains the bounds of credulity, if you ask me.”

This is from the same people that brought us lead in bullets forensics:

Watch Dwight Adams (chief FBI scientist and Mr “naturally occurring” silicon) squirming here on 60 minutes as he gets grilled on the lead in bullets scandal:

Actually, if you read all of this carefully you'll find they think they've pinned it down to Maryland and Virginia, not just that one post office.

BTW, they are comparing "errors" in the image on envelopes that were subjected to X-ray, infrared, ultraviolet and microwave radiation, and who else knows what. Those particular "distortions" may not be representative of the original grouping of "distortions". I think they are down in an area of resolution beyond the control of the particular printing technique used to produce the envelopes. Probably an awful lot of "art" in this factoid eh.

My own suggested time line of probable events does not rule out the perp(s) buying these envelopes at a post office with easy access to I-70 or I-95. Both highways are major features of life in Maryland and Virginia!

“They are basically saying Matsumoto also got an anthrax letter”

Naw, they’re just trying to fudge with word play a connnection between Brokaw and Matsumoto.

The FBI report is full of this kind of word play.

Even more interesting, from the same article, last paragraph:
Ms. Duley's work with prescription-drug abusers at Comprehensive Counseling Associates in Frederick was detailed in the local paper in June. Friday, as details of her involvement in the Ivins case emerged, a receptionist at the center would say only that Ms. Duley was no longer working there.
So, the logical questions:
1. How long did Jean Duley work at that facility, when did she stop and for what reason?

2. What were her qualifications and did they know of her police record and history of alcoholism when they hired her or was that part of her "qualification", i.e. "it takes one to know one", especially with the latest incident as recent as December 2007?

3. Since when and how did Ivins get to be "treated" in that particular clinic - was he referred (if so, by whom) or chose it on his own? Apparently, his counseling and the reasons for it were not a secret from his colleagues, as he discussed it (as well as his harassment by FBI) with at least one coworker?

4. What condition was Ivins "counseled" for, and why was Ms. Duley assigned to him if she worked with prescription-drug abusers - implying that that was the cause of Ivins attending the clinic?

5. IF his condition was addiction to prescription drugs (which?), how did he happen to have "massive dose of prescription Tylenol mixed with codeine" (acetaminophen+hydrocodone or Vicodin?) ingestion of which was stated as the COD?
