July 25, 2008, Soldiers and Visitors Drop By

A mid-summer’s Friday evening, not too hot, but a little humid. Traffic seemed not as heavy as normal due to vacations. Our group was enthusiastic and the passers-by honked their support throughout the evening.

The moonbats did whatever they always do, generally be obnoxious. (More about this later). We have identified one moonbat as a paid traveling loser. He travels with his suitcase and catches the Greyhound on Georgia Ave to the next paid protest.

We were joined by Danny, her sister Mandie and Danny’s three children. They are from Alaska and moving to this area to join Mandy’s husband, Josh, who is in the service and recovering from wounds.

We were also joined by several soldiers recovering at Walter Reed. They stop by throughout the night to say hello, and thank us for being there. We always make certain they know it is us, who are thanking them, and all the soldiers for serving.

Two soldiers stopped by towards the end of the evening and one came over to me angrily asking what we were doing here. He was very angry as he and his buddy had just walked past the moonbats who made disparaging comments to them, i.e. you got what you deserved. He hadn’t been aware of our being at WR for the troops for over three years.

He was very glad to see that Americans were visibly supportive of the troops, because they don’t see it in the media. He and his buddy are with the 173rd, in Afghanistan. And seem to be recovering well. We received a big hug from him before they went into WR.

This is why we are at Walter Reed.

Code Pink, moonbats and the anti-America crowd including large parts of the media, keep trying to demonize our troops. It’s vital that we actively participate whenever we can to show our support.

3D-Joy came prepared with little gifts for all who attended. I got a red, white and blue football to squeeze as a stress reliever. Thanks 3D-Joy.

As always we had good pizza and soda. We are always looking for troop supporters to stop by and visit. Parking is free right across from Walter Reed’s front gate.

AND VISITORS

Danny, her sister Mandie, and Danny’s three three children, and several recovering soldiers.

In an Alaskan newspaper article on 7/31/08, Danny's visit was described as follows: “Danny and her sister were out driving with the kids. They swung by the hospital to see the folks who gather at Walter Reed's main gate to hold a "mini-rally" for the troops every Friday night. JJ saw them and HAD to stop and hold a sign or wave a flag. Somedays I need these guys around me just a bit more than others.”
