In one of the more engaging, convincing and easily understood presentations I've ever seen, Prof. James Duane of the Regent University School of Law explains why even angels devoid of the slightest moral blemish should never speak to police officers, tax collectors or other law-enforcement agents investigating crimes.

I’m sure this guy is going to very popular on the gang and Al Qaeda websites. Never talk to cops - you’ll end up getting prosecuted. Pretty much goes along with what they tell their own followers.

Even the most casual of encounters with anyone who is remotely associated with a law enforcement activity are signs from the Almighty that it is time to STFU.

I’ve been told a lot of LAPD officers are not exactly with a clean record. This is because they were forced to hire quotas.
There is never any reason to be anything but polite to the police. There is never any reason to give any information to the police. There is never any reason to give the police permission to search you or your vehicle or your home. The 4th, 5th, and 6th amendments exist for a reason.

There is never any reason to give any information to the police. So the couple who saw a woman run a red light and broadside my car should NOT have come up to the policeman and told him they saw her run it.

Not long ago I would have thought this article was BS, but I see people getting prosecuted, not for the actual crime, but for not answering the investigators of a crime questions correctly.

Nothing to do with the subject....
thought I was going nuts, but when I click on 'browse', I get the latest threads.
When I use the mouse wheel to navigate, the 'Disloyal Opposition' selection changes from dark purple to light purple in color. Its only a tenth of a second maybe.
That's pretty neat.

They (the couple you speak of) are of course free to do as they wish; and likewise you are free to do as you wish. As for me? I am also free, and I exercise my rights, and I choose to not talk to the police. That’s the beauty of being free.

Ok, now you have my attention, what are the 8 reasons?

I think that they are saying that it is the right of a citizen of the US to the 5th. They are not saying cops are bad or that you should not talk to the police, but that it is your right not talk, the 5th amendment, just as it is your right to voice your opinion, the 1st amendment.

Moreover, I think the advice was directed toward those who are suspects in a crime, or have been, or have reason to believe they'll be, accused of one.

They are pointing out that it is the prosecutor’s job to get a conviction, not to find the truth or do justice. The prosecutor will press the case if he believes he can convince a jury and gain a conviction. Truth is not part of the equation.
