House Majority Whip: Climate Change Hurts Blacks More

Climate change is no longer just an environmental issue. It’s now an issue of race, according to global warming activists and policy makers.

“It is critical our community be an integral and active part of the debate because African-Americans are disproportionately impacted by the effects of climate change economically, socially and through our health and well-being,” House Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C., said July 29.

Clyburn spoke at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., to help launch the Commission to Engage African-Americans on Climate Change, a project of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies.

Global warming is apparently a race issue now. I hope Jesse Jackson doesn't threaten to cut any part of Al Gore's anatomy.

Well, they tried the “think of the children” crap. That didn’t work; so now they try getting the race-baiters involved...so typical.

Well, to borrow a phrase that another black "leader" in Texas objected to, "This man has a black hole where his brain ought to be." How dumb can public officials be, before there is a general agreement to keep them in the attic and not take them seriously?

When you take a look at the life and career of Sheila Jackson Lee (Congresswoman from Texas), you have to conclude, "ain't nobody dumb enough" to meet that criterion.

The report suggested implementing a “fee, tax or allowance auction on polluters.” This would pay for efforts to reduce global warming. Hoerner said that although it would cause product costs to increase, under his policy, the revenue from the “fee, tax, or allowance auction payment” would be redistributed to consumers to offset the higher costs.

“However, this increase in profits may be smaller than the windfall to stockholders if allowances are given away for free, even though this windfall is partially offset by higher product prices, lower sales, lower production and lower profits on the firm’s output, exclusive of the value of the allowances,” Hoerner continued. “Most businesses are energy consumers, not producers, and their interests lie with household energy consumers.”

WTF??????????????

J. Andrew Hoerner, director of the sustainable economics program at Redefining Progress and a co-author of the EJCC report, told the Business & Media Institute that solutions to climate change should be designed in a way so investors don’t reap all the benefits.

This guy's a joke and so is the main speaker. What kind of idiot, other than a Marxist, would want to lessen investor returns? If you do that, the amount going into those types of investments decreases. Is that what you really want?

The point that climate change impacts blacks more than whites is ludicrous. He points to the impact of Katrina as a case in point. What that says is that blacks live in uninsured (or under-insured) homes in a city with corrupt local government and inept state government. Being poor is the root of the black problem, and that's usually the result of poor choices.

This may be one of the dumbest speeches even given by a human.

There is no level that they will not stoop to trying to shoe horn “man centered global warming” unto the people of the US.

Clyburn has no sense of shame...none...

They really sound stupid. I guess the weather is now a "black" thing. Sorta like insisting black hole is a racist expression. I knew this day would come: the race hustlers and global warming con men joining up hands!
