On this afternoon's Hardball, the feisty, brilliant [bio: high honors Air Force Academy grad, Rhodes Scholar] GOP representative from New Mexico took on the duo of the combative congressman from Florida and host Chris Matthews, and walked away a winner. The subject was Obama's Berlin speech, and by extension his presidential qualifications.
You'll find excerpts below, but they don't do begin to do justice to Wilson's brio and the coolness under verbal fire she displayed. That's why I'd strongly encourage readers to view the video. Wilson kicked off her tour de force in commenting on a clip of Obama in his Berlin speech proclaiming that various walls, including one between American and Europe, "cannot stand" and must be torn down.

Sorry. I watched the lady give her response and a good one at that but when the two slims started to spew the same ole dung that dems do, I had to quit.
Maybe she’ll run for governor; hate to lose her in the political arena.

She’s great - I was always proud to give her my vote and my money.
Good stuff - maybe she ought to be the Rep. VP nominee! I know that a southwest ticket of AZ/NM is not the proper “geographical balance” for a national ticket, but that’s become a lot less important in recent years. I think she may be weak on some other issues, IIRC.
Too bad the rest of the mealy mouthed Republicans are incapable of doing the same.
Why is it that only the Pub LADIES seem to have balls? You know, a Republican that acted like a real man and had any sort of communication skills would clean up....
We need the Heather Wilsons of our nation, moved up to positions where they may effectively face down and counterattack this scurrilous sniping and misrepresentation about America in general and the Bush Administration in particular.
But something strange is happening. Heather Wilson ran for nomination to be the Republican Senate candidate, and by rights, should have won it. The voters of New Mexico thought otherwise, and she has given up re-election to the seat she held for five terms now in the House of Representatives.
This woman is a rising star. How about a shot at Governor on the near term? She could be a serious contender by 2016.
SECDEF or even VP.
