Obama says money for economy or energy more important than saving troops lives.

If you read the transcript Barak Obama tells Katie Couric that the money wasted on the surge saving the lives of American soldiers could have been used to help the economy or develop an energy plan.

TOPICS: Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: cbsnews; couric; foreignpolicy; interview; katietheclown; obama; obamavisit; surge
Not in those exact word. The actual exchange went as follows:

Couric: But talking microcosmically, did the surge, the addition of 30,000 additional troops ... help the situation in Iraq?

Obama: Katie, as … you've asked me three different times, and I have said repeatedly that there is no doubt that our troops helped to reduce violence. There's no doubt.

Couric: But yet you're saying … given what you know now, you still wouldn't support it … so I'm just trying to understand this.

Obama: Because … it's pretty straightforward. By us putting $10 billion to $12 billion a month, $200 billion, that's money that could have gone into Afghanistan. Those additional troops could have gone into Afghanistan. That money also could have been used to shore up a declining economic situation in the United States. That money could have been applied to having a serious energy security plan so that we were reducing our demand on oil, which is helping to fund the insurgents in many countries. So those are all factors that would be taken into consideration in my decision-- to deal with a specific tactic or strategy inside of Iraq.

Yet now he’s worried about unemployment in Iraq.

This guy is the biggest empty suit to ever run for the office. McCain should handily destroy him in a debate.

Sadly enough, his constituents agree with him. They want the money spent on themselves.

So he didn’t want a surge in Iraq, but now he wants a surge in Afghanistan?

What I found ridiculous about his caring about the unemployed Iraqis is the fact that without the surge there would be a couple thousand more Iraqis dead rather than looking for a job.

Obama: Because … it's pretty straightforward.

Nothing you say it straightforward, Little Barry. None of it makes any damn sense.

That money was used wisely to win a war. I know that's not what you wanted. Don't think we're all stupid, Little Barry. We know your agenda and we know how you and your Marxist ilk are furious that Iraq is up and running and the violence is dwindling month by month.

Eat our dust, Little Barry.

If people are honest, and that is a big ‘if’ I doubt there is anyone who understands the point of anything he says.
