I agree with you, but not all socons hold similar view as you do. The Family Research Council —a main player in socon movement— seems to be one of those who don’t.

The FRC needs to understand government is not a role model for moral behavior. A government can punish people when they break the law. But it can't teach them how to be good people and behave with consideration for God, for others and for themselves.
