City gives DNC host committee pass on gas tax (Denver)

The committee hosting the Democratic National Convention is using the city's gas pumps to fill up on fuel, avoiding state and federal highway taxes, officials said today.

"There's something there that just doesn't seem right to me because, in a sense, you're saying then that the officials who pass the laws are not willing to live by them, and that concerns me," Councilwoman Jeanne Faatz said.

The issue came up during the council's weekly meeting with Mayor John Hickenlooper when the Public Works Department requested authorization to be reimbursed by the Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee for use of "fueling facilities, fuel and car washes."

"By doing it this way, by running it through our Fleet Maintenance, that means that that fuel does not pay state or federal highway taxes," Faatz said.

That's the typical RAT way. Okay for me but not for thee.

Sure will be interesting to see these ja******* riding their bikes to work like the rest of the people. Right, like that would happen. Only the idiots will be doing that if they vote in RATS.

Well, but of course, the democrat party royalty does not do such common things such as pay gas taxes.

This will raise enough hackles locally that it will not stand.

This would be an in-kind contribution by the city to the DNC. Let’s see: is it legal for governmental agencies to make political contributions? Let’s everybody think. Real hard now ....

Patently disgusting. The dhimmirats continue their “law is for you, not me” mindset.

If anything, the dolts should be paying twice the tax on gasoline, right up until they hold an up/down vote on widening domestic drilling to OCS and ANWR.

Slimeballs...

So, they ridiculed the idea of a gas tax holiday for the rest of us but have on for themselves at their convention. Yet another case of “do as I say, not as I do” from the “champions of the little guy.”
