Pastor Manning is one weird dude.

At least he has enough self respect not to curse like a sailor in the pulpit.

How are things in the old country eek?

Good question. I haven't had much time to read over the Greek news lately. I do know that they are trying to capitalize on tourism where "Mama Mia!" was filmed on a particular island, whose name I forgot.

There is also some buzz about the upcoming Olympic basketball competition. Greece will be in the same group as the US. The last time they met, Greece won because the US was clueless on how to stop the pick-and-roll. I think I smell another upset coming up!

So are you trying to tell us that autism is not over or misdiagnosed?

No, I'm simply saying Savage is a moron who knows NOTHING about autism. I have said many times that there are too many diagnoses of autism, especially on the high-functioning/Asperger's/PDD NOS part of the autism "spectrum."

But only a FOOL would believe (and publicly SAY over the airwaves) that 99% of kids diagnosed with autism are NOT really autistic. If you believe that--if you believe Savage, and you actually believe 99% of autism-diagnosed kids are idiots, putzes, and need a stern father figure to whip them into shape--then you are seriously deluded as well. You may want to read up on the subject, and then go meet a few dozen families with autistic kids.

Ummm....They’re most definitely not “hidden.” They’re very noticeable. And they’re very, very numerous.

And yes, there ARE more cases of full-fledged autism. Just ask any special education teacher who has been doing it for more than 20 years. Ask a pediatrician.

You get back to my point. They’ve broaded the definition of autism so of course, teachers and doctors have more students/patients with the diagnosis.

There is no such thing as “high functioning autism”. People with such a diagnosis have something other than autism. You have further proven my point (and Savage’s, BTW) that they have proposefully broadened the definition of autism nearly to the point of irrelevance, at the expense of the truly disabled.

I knew nothing about autism or the many problems that are associated with it, Savage has done nothing but a service shedding light on it and giving voice to a side of it that would not be given otherwise.

After the last two shows that Savage had with experts supporting his position, and several lay people callers also supporting his 'follow the money trail' claims, I can see there is no real consensus on what autism is, who really suffers from it, what causes it, how to cure it, etc, and if you feel your son has it, so be it, don't see how the expose that Savage has shed on it so far should threaten you one way or another.

I don’t get back to your point. I refute your point. I’m not talking about the inflated numbers of barely-autistic PDD-NOC kids. I’m talking about the sheer increase in true, full-fledged autistic cases like my son. There HAS been an increase, and if you Savagelovers had a shred of integrity, you would see that, acknowledge it as truth and realize that Weiner is talking out of his bum, rather than blindly defending every piece of guano that falls from his mouth.

Yes, the whole discussion with the doctor was very interesting. As Savage said, none of his attackers will listen to that part of the show, nor with the media ever follow up on it.

You got that right. I live in the SF bay area and last night, as expected, Channel 4 local news does a slanted report totally excluding the corroboration he's getting from recognized experts. They only reported on the demonstrations to have a "local shock jock" fired, his "99%" rant, and the Larry King Show.

Savage, however, would do himself, and those of us that believe in stuff like this, a favor if would do more to control his rants which later he "re-edits" with more reasonable comments. He needs to take more responsibility for himself - he's on the air and is accountable for what he says. Part of his shtick is to shock (he's alluded to this before). His out-of-control rants, however, end up marginalizing himself, but even more importantly, neutralize (potentially) the important issues he advocates.
