There will never be another like Don Rickles. I remember watching these on tv. I have got to get those DVDs. I don’t think there are many of today’s politicians who would submit to something like this, ever. Today, the saying is: “Sticks aad stones may break my bones, but names will scar me emotionally for life.” Pathetic.
If any of you have HBO, keep an eye out for John Landis’s special about Don Rickles. Its very, very good! One clip has Don telling an elderly person in the audience “I talked to the home, you’re going back!” Another clip has him talking to a Japanese guy saying “(I spent)Four years, running around the Pacific looking for your father!” He hasn’t lost a step and audiences still love him!
