looks like Chicago and NYC are still managing to scare away white people with their socialist policies. Maybe Atlanta, Detroit and SF could learn from the socialist mayors of those glimmering cities on the hill(formerly known as a waste heap).
Not really. The affluent whites remain in NYC. Much of the gain in NYC (especially in Manhattan and Queens) has been due to the influx of Asians, many of whom are middle to upper class.
Besides, the minuscule decline in white population (compared to the large white flight of the the 1960s and 1970s) is largely through the attrition of lower middle class Tony Manero and Ralph Kramden types. The whites that move to Manhattan, Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, etc., don't tend to have many kids. However, for the first time since the 1960s, more white babys were born in Manhattan in 2007 than any other race.
From what I recall about Chicago, you had a similar phenomenon, with blue collar whites (who typically had kids) in the bungalow belt continuing their exodus west to exurbia, with blue collar black increasingly moving to the south suburbs, all the way down by Crete and Peotone in many cases. They are being replaced by the Mexicans, with the white gentrifier latte class increasing their presence throughout the north and near west sides (but not bringing/having any children).
