My job has taken me to the downtowns of lots of cities, Boston, DC, Manhattan, Chicago, Baltimore, Dallas, and a few others. The streets were clean, the air was clean, and I didn’t see any cars with broken windows scattered around. Your discription of a city sounds like Baghdad or something.
Bottom line, I live in the burbs because it’s cheaper. Homes are less and property tax is way less.
