The "polemania" that overtook Hollywood, Australia and Japan a decade ago has grabbed France, where pole-dancing schools say they turn away clients eager to learn routines once the preserve of strip clubs and girlie bars.
"It's sensual, not sexy, we leave eroticism in the changing room", said Violetta Carpentier, 31.

"I'm a pole addict," said Manuela Carneiro, a 28-year-old graphic artist who wanted a change after 15 years of modern dance classes.I've got a pole for her.

French suppliers say they keep running out of the essential poles, which cost a hefty 250 euros (390 dollars) for the regular chrome model or 300 euros for the "titanium gold", which, one dealer touted, offers "much better gripping ability".I'm not touching that with a ten foot...

French women are darn cute, but they’re not much into bathing, because it reduces the, um, natural aromas that French men find appealing.
I spent a summer in Paris twenty-odd years ago, and it was very disappointing. I found myself discreetly breathing through my mouth a lot of the time.
I’d hate to be inside that pole-dancing gym right about now, the hottest part of the year.

The French will never master Pole dancing...
...or Lapp dancing for that matter...
