Skip to comments.Fairfax, Virginia: Review Finds Slurs In '06 Saudi Texts

By Jerry Markon and Ben Hubbard Washington Post Staff Writers Tuesday, July 15, 2008; Page B01 A Saudi-funded academy in Fairfax County used textbooks as recently as 2006 that compared Jews and Christians to apes and pigs, told eighth-graders that these groups are "the enemies of the believers" and diagrammed for high school students where to cut off the hands and feet of thieves, a Washington Post review of the books has found. Saudi officials acknowledged that the textbooks used at the Islamic Saudi Academy had contained inflammatory material since at least the mid-1990s but said they ordered revisions in 2006. School administrators said that they have been scrambling to change the texts and that all potentially offensive passages will be gone by the coming academic year. But, they said, teachers have always been told to avoid inflammatory material in the classroom. A sampling of 2006-07 Islamic studies textbooks showed that much of the controversial material had been removed. At least one book still contained passages that extolled jihad and martyrdom, called for victory over one's enemies and said the killing of adulterers and apostates was "justified." The academy, founded in 1984, has about 1,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 and is separated into boys' and girls' schools. It is the only Saudi-funded school in the United States. About 70 percent of the academy's students are U.S. citizens drawn from the region's Muslim communities. About a quarter are Saudi.

.... and the most amazing thing is that this article appeared in today's Washington Post!
Austin Hill is talking about this now.
islam is a viral infection of the soul that causes delusions of adequacy. It was founded by a drunken pedophile for the purpose of worshiping a stone moon deity
My favorite part of this story was when, after reading how the textbooks describe the best way to cut off the hands and feet of thieves, the spokesperson for Fairfax County said, “We’re not capable of determining whether textbooks contain language that promotes violence.” That had me hooting with laughter this morning on the Metro. Gee, I wonder how much money the sponsors/supporters of this school gave Gerald Connolly and other members of the Faixfax County Board of Supervisors for their political campaigns? These people should all be sent packing back to their ancestral hell holes.
I had an opportunity to see some of these books at the American Enterprise Institute back in '06. I snapped a couple of cell phone pics:
Listening to Austin right now too.... he’s awesome!
And yet if we called Muslims dogs or pigs, CAIR and the FBI would count it as a hate-crime.
Gerry Connolly is a virus infection.
If this was a Christian textbook that said these things...they would shut the school down that used it
There is so much political correctness for Islam...all the way up to the President (and it shows in Iraq, Afghanistan). We will never win the War on Terror until we start to be honest about Islam...and until we realize that terrorist problem is based on Islam
Of course, when I attended that school, it was known as Fairfax Christian School, and the principal, Robert Thoburn, was a big Republican. The Saudis paid him a handsome sum for the school, so he sold it. It was actually a for-profit private school when I went there.
I guess the Saudis changed the curriculum.
“Gerry Connolly is a virus infection.”
Yeah and he’s likely gonna be my next Congresscritter ... how much more can Fairfax decline ? We’re gonna need PW county to pull us out.
The Islamic Saudi Academy is in the old Mt Vernon High School on Rt 1 below Alexandria.
Mohammed (MHBH) was a bandit chieftain attempting to stitch together a religion ideally suited for ruling increasingly large aglomerations of bandit tribes. There’s really nothing more to it.
We’ve been hearing about this for years now. What will it take to close this damned school?
How about a MOAB?
Pardon my ignorance, what is MOAB?
Oh, I LOVE daisy cutters! Thanks!
Obviously that person’s comment about the MOAB was meant for AFTER school. No one here would suggest bombing little kids.
I wonder if they would have liked my wildboarjihaditurducken recipe for their home economics class?
