Pastor challenges United Way for funding abortion group

A Peoria, Illinois, pastor is challenging United Way's funding of Planned Parenthood.

Pastor James McDonald of Providence Church says Planned Parenthood operates large abortion mills in Chicago and in Champaign, Illinois. "...[A]nd that troubled us greatly in the Christian community, and we wanted to encourage United Way to do what was right -- which is to stop funding completely," he explains.

But abortion is not the only issue troubling McDonald. He objects to the supposed "comprehensive" sex education strategy Planned Parenthood promotes. "I am...very concerned about what [Planned Parenthood is] doing -- not only to the American family, but to the Christian family as well, and to the fabric of our society," he continues.

McDonald stresses that United Way does provide funding to many worthwhile causes, but Americans may want to take issue if money goes to abortion facilities. McDonald and others have authored a letter asking Illinois United Way to drop Planned Parenthood funds. Planned Parenthood receives millions of taxpayer dollars each year from the federal government.

I quit giving money to the United Way 20 yrs ago. I am surprised people still give there money to an Organization that grossly mismanages it funds not to mention the high fees it charges to support lavish lifestyles of its execs.....

...the high fees it charges to support lavish lifestyles of its execs...

The local United Way (Charlotte) recently soiled their diapers mightily by kicking in $800,000 to the CEO's supposedly underfunded retirement plan. The poor lady was only pulling down about $400k per year and obviously would have been destitute without the Board's help.

The stench should last well into their annual intimidation "fund" drive.

You can lose your job in some places if you refuse to donate. Management will find some other reason to terminate you. The companies must receive some form of kick back if all employees contribute.

I must confess that I did donate $2 to the UW recently to purchase the right to smash a pie onto my supervisors face.

Amen to that. United Way is a lavishly appointed den of thieves.

great job for this pastor. shame on the coward united way for funding the evil evil sadistic planned parenthood. The united way does good work but they must be pressured to stop or no more direct money to them. The people that the uw help can be helped directly and not funnuled by the uw.
