It's no joke. Actually, they have had pretty stringent knife control for years already. If you get caught with a knife outside your home, you are going to get prosecuted unless you can show you have a legitimate need for it (like a chef on the way to a catering job) and are not carrying it for self-defense.
I don't know what more they think they can do. Maybe all knifes will now have to be rounded and blunt. Then they'll have to put controls on grinders and files and hacksaws.

Thanks for that reply, ccmay, the comments on the Brit paper’s site show that many still don’t get the problem. They were rather unctious, a ways back, about their gun control laws.
This is the logical outcome of misdiagnosing the problem.
