If you are using M$ Internet Explorer, please change immediately!!! You ever hear of Netscape? If you have, then you Mozilla FireFox is the same... It was the original free to the public internet channel... without having to buy a retail copy... hmmm....
I downloaded a copy of Netscape when the internet was first open to the public... At that time, everything available to the public was only across wire (phone connections), and was available only through BBS... ALL computer communication was done through a modem (when I first started, it was 300 baud.... think WarGames, where you had to put the hand cradle on the computer modem (2 piece.. 1 for transmitting, 1 for receiving..)..
ok, jump to 1994 (1995, or about)... Netscape was the kink to overcoming the BBSing of not only the local community... but of the world. It was the 'internet'. Consisting of anywhere in the world, without having the long distance charge! BBSing had the charge of any other call made by your phone... You had to call a certain computer directly. Netscape allowed the connection to the whole 'network' through the network already created... WITHOUT the charge of long distance...
Netscape was run aground by M$ Internet Explorer within a few years.. but did not die. Within that time, younger/newer code makers came along (within the same general idea/company) that had made Netscape. Today, they are called Mozilla. Anything from them is 99.9% guaranteed cleaner, faster, and safer than IE (Internet Explorer). Any Tech guru on FR can either back or deny my claims...
Here is the most recent site to Mozilla (and firefox): MoZilla
Here is the most recent FireFox: FireFox
and after you experience the more safe environment.. speed, and adaptability of Firefox, then you will have an idea of the comforts of the free web, as it was ment to be. :D
