According to Michelle Obama that would be tantamount to leaving the Black Community and turning your back on Black Culture.

“You’re not to blame for your plight, and your ‘culture’ is not to blame for the results that you’re experiencing - it’s all Whitey’s fault, let us get that bastard for you!”

Perhaps these people find a degree of comfort living on the RAT party plantation. By and large they are given a pass when it comes to personal responsibility and accountability, and aren’t held to high expectations or standards.

It must really suck to have such a low self esteem.

I have long maintained that the GOP needs to do a better job of outreach to the black community. It's a difficult, often thankless task, but it's important. Since the Dems currently get 90% of the black vote, every black American who votes for a Republican pretty much means one less vote for the democrat and one more vote the Republican -- that's a big ROI.

The long history (over 150 years) of Democrats screwing blacks should be more widely known.
The deleterious affects of the New Deal on black Americans should be known.
The deleterious affects of the Great Society on black Amewricans should be known.
The decay in inner cities controlled today by Democrat politicians should be known.

If Barack Obama is somehow torpedoed by Hillary and if 2008 becomes the year when blacks realize how they've been stabbed in the back (again) by the Democrats, the GOP should be in a position to demonstrate our common values (pro-life, anti-homosexual marriage, pro-church, anti-illegal immigrant, pro-law-and-order, school vouchers, etc.). It could be a real turning point.

But I'm not going to hold my breath.

Probably at least ninety percent of black people in my area think Lincoln was a democrat.Probably ninety nine plus percent think the republican party is the party of choice for white racists. Somebody needs to wake up. There is a lot room for black people in the real world now, not many want to live there anymore.

Why Haven't More Blacks Jumped the Democrat Ship?

Because most aren't educated enough in American history. When people of any color consider the 3/5ths clause as something evil, you know right off the bat you are dealing with a moron.

The peer pressure is enormous and spans generations.

Whatever can be said about Black voters and the democRAT party can be said about White voters in South Louisiana and elswhere. My mom told me to "register democrat, because the republicans are for rich people". This attitude keeps poor white people poor, ignorant, and tools for perpetual corruption. I'm guessing that the pressure is worse if you are black, judging from my Black GOP college friends experience.

With all due respect to Representative Wright-Jones

Why is she or any other member of her party due any "respect" at all?

IMO, the 'Rats are due plenty of contempt, especially from the black community that they've decimated through family-killing government dependency.

Black Democrats legally siezed power in many of our urban areas years ago...the results of their leadership are pretty clear...yet they keep getting re-elected....where’s the “CHANGE” mantra there?

Bob, when African Americans are looking for a favor, they go to the Democrats. Same thing my Irish-American ancestors did many decades ago. If Republicans want to make inroads into the African-American community, I think they’re going to have to organize deep in the African-American community.

How to know whether you are racist:

If Obama was white and McCain was black who would you vote for?

Several years ago, I took a black co-worker point by point through the Republican platform. She agreed with every single plank. Then, I told her that she’d just agreed with the entire Republican platform and asked her if she would consider voting Republican instead of Democrat. She said no. Stunned, I asked her why.

Her answer was simple: “Because Republicans hate black people.”

Until we as conservatives figure out a way to combat that lie, Dems will continue getting 90% of the African American vote. The Dems WILL continue spreading it, and we do nothing to stop it.

A majority of them never will. It would be a pipe dream to ever think a black would adopt the principles of conservatism.

Culturally they have been modified into dependency by democrat policies. The great society only accelerated the demise of the black community/family. The democrat party with it liberal platform is in fact appeasement to the black community. Political correctness is pandering to the provide me with an excuse for my condition attitude.

Don't get me wrong, I applaud those who have seen they can do better for themselves as opposed to expecting a handout that never accomplishes the intent. It does not appear that with the current political climate, those who have generationaly learned to expect something are less likely to work for it.

Poverty is a symptom, not a problem.

It is a symptom of: criminality, immorality, drug and alcohol addiction, dishonesty, laziness, pessimism, cynicism, racism. Want to be poor? Father a few illegitimate children and get a felony conviction. It'll work every time.

Oh sure, there is aunt MArge whose husband died unexpectedly with no insurance, but the foregoing is true for 90% of all poor.
