I just recognized your name. We've had some correspondence. You are not merely a reporter or stringer. You are an editor. How appalling.

But I stand by my comments about your piece, which I posted moments ago on a discussion thread. I'm not sure which would be worse, that you wrote this in utter ignorance of Major Andre and Nathan Hale, or that you knew about them and deliberately ignored their histories. Either way, you lied by omission to the readers of your newspaper.

People like Satullo never admit that the Founders executed traitors, or that Abraham Lincoln suspended habeas corpus, jailed journalists, closed newspapers, defied rulings of the Supreme Court, and arrested state legislators in Maryland to prevent them from voting for secession. They never recall that Franklin Roosevelt ordered the indefinite detention of Japanese Americans, or that he agreed to the firebombing of Dresden and other cities. They forget that the U.S. executed six Germans suspected of plotting sabotage inside the U.S. with almost no trial and no habeas hearing. They conveniently forget that John F. Kennedy nearly started World War III by invading Cuba, a tiny country that had never attacked the U.S.
