100 years and a day after the Tunguska event. Could we be passing through the same group of fragments that caused that explosion a century ago?

are we still calling meteors “fireballs”? I guess my Mossberg would be a “thunderstick”, and my pool is the “cement pond”...

Most people don’t know east from west, but this sounds like a reentering satellite.

I live in California, hopefully one day I'll be able to escape.

What happen on June 17th in California?
In case you don't know, gay marriage approved.

What has happen since June 17?
1900 fires and now a big fireball coming from the heavens toward good ol’California.

Do you think someone above is mad at California?
“Turn toward me, your God, and I will heal your lands” This is only the beginning of the end. Pray for our nation!

Anyone recall the opening scene of the 1951 War of the Worlds? Same kind of phenomena in the same area. Just a thought for the day.

Let’s grab some white flags and go say “Hi”.

Yeah, everyone knows what the white flag means.

Could it have been a polar orbiter?

Joe Dirt already has it loaded up on his little red wagon and was last seen pulling it through town and talking to the thing while heading off to the hamburger stand.

Daaaaaaang!

It coulda been Santa Claus for all I know. I have no clue what a “polar orbiter” is. Let me guess it orbits the poles. It really didn’t look like a meteor. More like some debris. Did someone loose a satellite lately?

There are sightings from the Coast to the AZ border

Ask LAist: Fireball Over Hollywood Hills?
Update: More witnesses see the fireball, read the update here | From the LAist Inbox: Legit or For Real? A reader writes in... “I work in Beverly Hills on the 8th floor of our building, and I was talking to a co-worker when I saw a massive orange light fly West to Northeast over the Hollywood hills. It was like a shooting star but ridiculously close. Am I the only one who saw this? Am I going crazy here? No one believes me at the office and I’m getting pissed.” It happened around 10:40 a.m. he said in a follow up e-mail. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, nothing unusual has been reported.
