Warrant: Carson taken from home
Raleigh News-Observer ^ | 6/28/2008 | Jesse J. DeConto

A confidential witness told investigators that Demario Atwater said he and Laurence Lovette Jr. took Eve Carson from her home March 5 after entering through an open door, according to search warrants made public Friday.

The documents offered the first detailed public accounts of the crime, in which Atwater and Lovette are accused of killing Carson, the student body president at UNC-Chapel Hill.

According to the witness, Atwater told her he and Lovette forced Carson into the back seat of her Toyota Highlander and drove her to an ATM.

Lovette shot Carson multiple times, and Atwater subsequently shot her with a different weapon, the witness told investigators.

It now appears that Carson was not as some (myself included) speculated been wandering/driving around alone late at night out in the urban area, but rather was forcibly abducted from her home. What a horrible, vile and random crime. Hopefully the juries in legendarily liberal Chapel Hill will not find some way to downgrade the crime and will instead through the book at these two hoodlums who are accused of it, as well as another student murder in Durham.

This one vanished from the national media radar screens once it was clear that the perps were black. But NBC still found time a couple of weeks ago to lecture the nation about the James Byrd killing for the 8,765th time, even though it happened ten years ago.

We still don't know that. The local news (I live in Durham) said that "they entered the house through an open door to abduct Eve Carson." That doesn't automatically imply random.

There may be more to this once it gets to trial.

well if your right it might mean that she just knew these "people" and that the crime was premeditated

Gee, wait...isn't this Nifong country?

Where are the college professors screaming for justice?

Where are the reporters blaring lurid news?

Where are the Sharptons, the Jacksons, the other garbage who race to the scene of fabricated crimes?

Gosh, the silence is deafening.

And a beautiful, lively woman is coldly killed by a pair of animals who burn with nothing but resentment and hate.

But the filth in the media shrugs.

It is everywhere too; Cleveland for instance has a gang of black folks killing white people for sport but they news media decides it is not newsworthy I guess.

These two in this case are monsters in and out of the justice system that feels sorry for them. Meanwhile people die. I feel bad for the family.

If you're a college professor, you've got to believe that "justice" has already been done.

I’m thinking along the lines that her roommates inadvertently left the screen door closed, but not the front door. They were going out on the town late at night while Carson stayed behind to study. She went to bed, then these two thugs rolled on by, saw the screen door and the inside of the house and decided to invade.

I wonder whether the DA office will approach this case aggressively and seek the death penalty against the one perp who is eligible for it.

I wouldn’t understand letting him live after committing the atrocity and the justice system should be investigated for letting them use the system like a revolving door.

I doubt she went to bed. I bet there were lights on and it was probably easy to see that someone was moving around in there.

Sooner or later this is going to have to be addressed. We cannot have a segment of the population out running around like wild animals. We're going to have to take matters into our own hands if the legal system or our law enforcement does not step up. These thugs should be locked in a cage and then tortured in the most inhumane way before they're killed.

Actually I was wondering when the NAALCP would come out and condemn the racist systems that pushed these young men to a life of crime. When the older 1 gets the chair they will be out in force.

Thank God we can carry in Virginia, and I will protect my family. We came ohhh so close this week to gun rights being able to be stripped from us. Too close for comfort. Animals is right.

I’ve had a gun held to my head one time. It was a black man committing armed robbery while I was working.

I’ve had a knife pointed at my face. It was a black man committing armed robbery while I was working.

There’s several more examples I can provide but there’s some major issues that the black community needs to resolve.

I am not a racist and I have several black friends but something has got to change. Violent offenders need to be locked in a cage and removed from society. I don’t see a need for three strikes. If we removed them the first time, their won’t be a second or third strike.
