Chinese Military Sent Special Nuclear Cleanup Unit into Sichuan Earthquake Area

2008.6.28 13:02

China's People's Liberation Army sent a special unit of 2,746 soldiers into an area in Sichuan devastated by major earthquakes, where they are cleaning up nuclear and chemical materials. It was reported by China Press, an overseas Chinese wire services.

The unit are cleaning up harmful radioactive materials such as Cobalt 60 from a cement factory which was destroyed. They are also dealing with ammonia and hydrochloric acid leaking out of a chemical plant. "The threat to disaster victims was (being?) removed," (according to the military authorities.)

The unit says that soldiers with special skills of nuclear and chemical cleanup were selected from all over the military.

Where is Sichuan relative to Beijing? A little nuclear radiation could ruin your whole Olympics.

Why does a cement factory use Cobalt 60?

Some suspect that the cement factory is in fact a nuclear waste disposal facility. Or there is another kind of nuclear facility on or below the ground at the site.

This area is full of underground nuclear weapon's facilities.

Nuclear waste mixed into liquid cement, pumped to below ground storage.

But that’s just a theory. Nothing concrete on that.

Boy! That’s one way to control population. It isn’t beyond belief that it’s been done by governments and will be done by the One World Government, because those highly-placed imbeciles still believe the defunct Malthusian theory.

Cobalt 60 has a use in measuring concrete densities. So, given a cement factory and the possibility they're making pre-cast forms at the same site, you could have some cobalt-60 testing devices around and they'd probably need to be "cleaned up".

Just guessing these are portable devices, not like the linear accelerators used in hospitals.

BTW, there are numerous (by the gazillion) references on the net to cobalt 60 so I just looked for non-medical uses, and there it was.

Chinese Military Special Nuclear Cleanup Unit in the area will feed rumors that a underground nuclear test triggered the Sichuan Earthquake.
