Hmmm..a stray sentence in there (Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff). I don't know how that happened.

Bump anyway.

"He was fresh out of jail, you know," Gen. McPeak said.

I didn't know that McCain was in jail, General. Is that why the Gitmo terrorists have access to our courts now?.....

McPeak will be a drag on Obama's campaign. He is the most reviled former CSAF ever.

I've never had extensive connections to the military but, the one connection I do have, Air Force, for over 15 years says it all.
In 1993, his own subordinates routinely referred to him as "McDork."

Not the ideal position for a true leader.
It does not surprise me in the slightest that he supports Buraq.

McPeak ought to know about this subject, considering the fact that he's one of the biggest f--king fat heads to ever stink up the Air Force.

“But that is not what he’s most remembered for. With all of that disruption and the associated base closings, the single thing every one remembers “Space Commodore McPeak” for is his trip into fashion design. He decided that the Air Force “blue suit” should look more like the Navy uniform with a lot of silver braid and shoulder boards.”

Vache sainte! C’est Star Wars! Vite, solo! Là où est Chewbacca?

"He was fresh out of jail, you know," Gen. McPeak said

Jail? He was a Prisoner of War, not incarcerated for armed robbery.

For those who don't know, Merrill "Tony" McPeak was the strangest, and perhaps the most hated, Air Force general in history.

I read this article yesterday, and even though I know he is a 24 caret jerk, I was still shocked by McPeak's comments.

McPeak was an idiot then and he’s an idiot now. I think he is a loser and should have NEVER been appointed as a General of ANYTHING.

Just talking that way about Senator McCain’s experience as a POW makes McPeak sound like a major league big time jerk.

Wow, I always thought McCain was in pretty good shape for his age. Maybe McPeak thinks this is the ideal look for McCain.

Would it be rude if I said that McPeak looks like an old, anorexic Max Headroom?

RUSH: CNN is suggesting that McCain is too stupid to be president because he’s computer illiterate. He admitted he doesn’t know how to use a computer; Cindy handles all that stuff. “On Thursday, CNN’s Jeanne Moos made the case that because John McCain is not computer savvy, he’s not qualified to be president. She even disgracefully quipped — as a video of a stripper appeared on the screen! — ‘At least John McCain knows the difference between a laptop and a lap dance.’ ... [S]he also took the time to demonstrate just how much of a techie Barack Obama is while adding a dash of Bush-bash.” This is from our buddies at NewsBusters, Noel Sheppard. So McCain’s too fat, and he’s too stupid to be president because he doesn’t know how to use a computer.

On a side note, the article also mentions General Sanchez, who really had some unlucky stars, mostly due to bad timing that wasn’t his fault.

To start with, Sanchez really was the expert at reconstruction, but he was brought in too early during the insurgency. So he was trying to build the new house before the old house had been completely torn down—a recipe for trouble.

Had he been brought in after General Petraeus had worked his counterinsurgency magic, General Sanchez would have been perfect for the job.

On top of that, Sanchez was messed up from below because of the mismanagement of Abu Ghraib. An excuse for congress to hate and despise him, which they wanted to do anyway.

“He was fresh out of jail, you know,” Gen. McPeak said. “Skinny kid. All beat up of course, physically. But quite thin. They weren’t feeding him very well in Hanoi. He’s done very well at the dinner table in Washington.”

Wow. What an ugly quote.

How revealing of the speaker’s character.

I have said it before, military officers who are or become democrats have a self hate complex. Very senior officers who go over to the dark side, like William Crowe did with Clinton to become Ambassador to Britain are self serving bastards who sell the military down the river for their own 30 pieces of silver.

McDork, “manly man”, show off your chest hair mc peak was considered to be a laughable POS even by other generals. The only general I can think of who was as close to being as reviled as him was Lloyd Leavitt who was vice cinc of SAC under Gen. Ellis. I think that moron merrill has even surpassed him. Hard call though.
