I’m not sure who they are harassing, the local sheriff or Blackwater. In either case it is a huge waste of gubmt cheese. I do love gubmt cheese.

Uncle Sugar reminding them who is Large and in Charge. The article stated even many of the ATF agents involved have known about the arrangement and even utilized the facilities. No, no conflict of interest there.

Coming on the heels of the SCOTUS decision this morning, it kindles the debate on whether citizens should limited in terms of firepower.

I can envision a big D Depression where you’d wish you had an AK-47 for your family’s protection.

I think Blackwater bought some toys for the local Sheriff. Who otherwise couldn’t justify it considering the small size of the tax base and crimes reported. The free shoots at the facilities also part to keep the Sheriff and other law enforcement agencies to keep coming doing business with BW. Nothing new or out of the ordinary in business marketing and sales practices. Sometimes handling out pens and letter openers with the company logo on it are just not enough.

I thought the purchase of automatic weapons was legal if you paid that really high license? Or is that only for machine guns not rifles with the full auto?

I have no idea. When it comes to guns, I’m strictly an observer. Don’t own one.

Whether legal or illegal this is bureaucratic decision. The various sides should have met an hashed it out and decided what was or was not legal. Why the US government was seizing some other government’s or private property in this matter is difficult to ascertain.

Agents took 17 AK-47s and 5 Bushmaster XM15 E2S automatic rifles, according to Blackwater spokeswoman, who said that the raid was prompted by an ongoing investigation into a deal allowing the sheriff’s office to store the weapons at the company’s armory in Moyock, North Carolina.

This action should give Erik Prince standing to sue in federal court to repeal the Hughes amendment. I hope he recognizes the opportunity and acts upon it.

I thought the purchase of automatic weapons was legal if you paid that really high license?

It is a $200 tax. Unfortunately, back in 1986 an amendment (the Hughes Amendment) was added at the last minute (via a voice vote that failed, but the Democrat speaker of the house refused to allow a recorded vote and declared it passed anyway) to an otherwise good bill (McClure-Volkmer act). It said that only government could own fully automatic weapons manufactured after that date.

It is clearly unconstitutional, but it is enforced anyway. The result is that there are only a limited number of machine guns in circulation (those manufactured before passage of the bill) which can be owned by citizens.

Or is that only for machine guns not rifles with the full auto?

All firearms capable of fully automatic fire are treated the same under the law. If made before the bill, you can own them (just pay the $200 tax and do the transfer). If made after the bill, only government can own them.

“Owned by the Sheriff’s Department.” LEO’s can own all the full-auto weapons they want. There’s no legal difference between machine guns and full-auto rifles. This is some sort of attention-grabbing stunt by the BATF, maybe to distract from their SuprememCourt loss today.

i think that is “dad gummit” versus gubment cheese. In either case gubment cheese ALWAYS tastes better cause it’s free, and the gubment stole the the dad gummit money from some other poor basturd to pay fer it.
