If you needed any more evidence as to just how far to the left NASA's James Hansen is, consider that on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his highly-controversial testimony to Congress -- wherein he presaged gloom and doom at the hands of the naturally occurring gas carbon dioxide -- he decided to make his global warming case at the ultra-leftwing website the Huffington Post.

And he has, of course, a very supportive audience there. And most DU`ers see nothing wrong with bringing criminal charges against anyone who disputes AGW. It seems like we`re living in 1633 instead of 2008.

They’ve sure got it backwards. It should be a capital crime to attempt to criminalize free speech.

The more people listen, read other scientific opinions, study more of the historical data available, the less they believe the hysterical rants that get louder and shriller.

The left is losing its audience and is becoming positively hysterical.

Other climatologists, physicists, and scientists are dissenting from the Church of Man-made Climate Change.

I can’t imagine how much payoff this Hansen clown is receiving for his pathetic rantings.

I hope that, somewhere down the line, he gets his just deserts.

I suppose the Left thinks they are 'progressive' because they are not calling for burning people at the stake.   ;-)

One can look at their rant and sense desperation. Their arguments must be so very fragile they fly into a rage if one questions the orthodoxy.

There is no group so rigid in their thinking as those scientists following the current consensus. They have their grants to look out for!

James Hansen got caught by Steven McIntyre fudging the GISS & USHCN temperature datasets. Once the correction was made it showed that 7 of the 11 hottests years in the USA all occurred befre 1955!

Corrected data set from August 2007 that was never reported be the MSM: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/Fig.D.txt

Corrected graph: August 2007

If anyone has an account at the HUFFPOST please fell free to post my post there.

From his screed...

CEOs of fossil energy companies know what they are doing and are aware of long-term consequences of continued business as usual. In my opinion, these CEOs should be tried for high crimes against humanity and nature. If their campaigns continue and "succeed" in confusing the public, I anticipate testifying against relevant CEOs in future public trials.

This is from the same guy who repeatedly claims he's censored (but apparently not very well since he never seems to shut up). Hansen doesn't want to censor dissenting view from his, he wants prison. Apparently only Hansen and those who agree with him merit free speech in the United States.

Doesn't it seem like a government scientist who calls for imprisoning citizens who disagree with him is not only off his rocker, but one who should be reprimanded at least, probably demoted, and possibly fired?

He's made statements before that he's out to save creation. Seriously, something's not right with this guy. It would be laughable if he didn't hold a position of public trust and people didn't take him seriously.

If the greenies don't seriously scare you more than Islamic terrorists, you aren't paying enough attention.

The carbon-credit scams probably pay his wage.

Considering they are calling for war-crime type tribunals for these 'crimes', I would think execution would not be out of the question.

Well the best thing for the majority of rational voters is to see these freak ranters of the Far Left...I expect the same reaction from the BHO campaign & supporters when it becomes obvious that they have managed to lose the GE.
WTH would vote for these fools?

"he decided to make his global warming case at the ultra-leftwing website the Huffington Post."

This means that even the left wing main stream media realizes this guy is a nut case and a kook. When will NASA wake up and can him? Maybe letters to the head of NASA are in order.

I had an instructor in nuke school ("Mean Gene the Neutron Machine") who tended to read his lecture notes verbatim in a monotone. When a student would request him to stop and explain a point he just covered, Gene would just look at the student then repeat what he just said IN A LOUDER VOICE.

We yanked his chain thoroughly one day by asking him to explain a certain point four times. By the end, he was screaming the lecture!

Professor Hansen reminds me of Mean Gene the Neutron Machine for some reason...

Desperation.

As his argument crumbles, his attacks become more shrill. I noticed that neither the Guardian article nor the piece in USA Today mentioned the data indicating that the climate has been cooling for ten years.

Also not mentioned are Hansen's Hysterical rants dating back to the summer of 1981:

http://newsbusters.org/node/13114 This guy is not only incompetent he has clearly lost his marbles.

Hansen is a disgrace. He received $720,000 from George Soros’ Open Society Institute’s Program called “Politicization of Science”. Politicising science is an anethma to REAL scientists. He is a traitor to his profession.
