In response to Obama's claim that Republicans will use race to stoke fear, Lt. Col Allen West, candidate for Congress in Florida's 22 District issued this release:
My advice to Senator Obama is to run as a Man and Leader, and the American people will evaluate you as such, not as a victim. This is a Presidential race, based solely on a capacity to lead the United States of America. It is not about skin tone...however, perhaps we should come to expect these immature statements.
It also seems rather humorous that the Presidential candidate who was supposed to be such a "uniter" and transcend race is the one talking about it the most. If Senator Obama was confident in his abilities and character, he would not need to create a crutch for failure. Senator Obama has just tipped his hand, any criticism of him and his policies will be directly attributed to racism. I congratulate Senator Obama for taking race relations in America back some 30 years.

It takes a military man to show Obama the difference between a man and a boy. If we took a serious look at the credentials and accomplishments of both, one would wonder if they should switch seats in their respective campaigns.
LTC Allen West has lived his life in service to America. In 2004, when it was time to retire from more than twenty years of service in the US Army, he brought his wife and two young daughters to Broward County, Florida, where he taught high school. He then returned to Afghanistan as an advisor to the Afghan army, an assignment he finished in November 2007.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Allen West received BS (UT) and MS degrees in political science (KSU). He also holds a Master of Military Arts and Sciences from the US Army Command and General Staff Officer College in political theory and military history and operations.
“Education is the great equalizer,” he says. “With a good education, any child in America can live his dream.”
Allen West knows that for our children to live their dreams, they need to be safe. He has faced down the world’s terrorists: in Operation Desert Storm, in Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was battalion commander for the Army’s 4th Infantry Division, and in Afghanistan, where he trains Afghan officers to take on the responsibility of securing their own country.
In his Army career, Col. West has been honored many times, including a Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals (one with Valor), and a Valorous Unit Award. He received his valor award as a Captain in Desert Shield/Storm, was the US Army ROTC Instructor of the Year in 1993, and was a Distinguished Honor Graduate III Corps at Fort Hood, Texas Air Assault School.
Excellence is a West family tradition. His wife, Angela, holds an MBA and PhD. and works as a financial planner. His daughter, Aubrey, is a sophomore at Archbishop McCarthy HS and his daughter, Austen, is a 6th grader at Parkway Christian School.

I believe that this is the same Lt. Col. Allen West that received a non-judicial punishment for firing a pistol at near an Iraqi prisoner & threatening to kill him if he didn’t spill his guts. The Iraqi was a policeman who was working with the insurgents in attacking the 4th ID. Basically cost him a very successful career.
Now does anybody think that the Republican party is going to touch Col. West with a ten foot pole after that? He’ll get no money. It’s a darn shame, too.
Oh, apparently Col. West had the right guy since the successful interrogation led to the capture of the cell who was responsible for the attacks. There were no subsequent attacks.

Allen West should be heading the GOP ticket, not Go-Along-Get-Along McCain who never saw a Democrat with whom he wouldn't compromise and stab his own Party in the back.

Comment: The handling of this clown to date has been disgraceful. A Good campaign billboard would have been "Hussein" 2008 "He has the Wright stuff." Then show an empty suit or "Hussein" 2008 "He has the Wright stuff." Then show him in his Muslim garb. Refer to him mainly as "The democratic candidate," never by name except where unavoidable. However, the opportunity has probably passed. To handle this clown by discussing his "ideas" is to legitimize him. What a mistake! He IS the issue.
No matter where he goes there should be someone in the audience asking him where he stands on "Reparations" for blacks. Give him no rest-reparations, reparations, reparations. Play his economic policy speech that he made in one of the Carolina's-play it over and over. He stumbled all over himself all over himself. Demand he debate, which he notoriously cannot do.
