Bush Praises US Congress for Cooperation on FISA, War Funding (President Bush wins again)

U.S. President George Bush has praised Congress for its bipartisan cooperation on domestic surveillance and new war funding.

At the White House Friday, Mr. Bush called on the House of Representatives to pass the domestic surveillance legislation Friday. He urged the Senate to take it up quickly.

House and Senate leaders agreed on a compromise bill Thursday.

The measure, which permits the government to eavesdrop on the communications of suspected terrorists without first obtaining a court's permission, could also protect telecommunications companies from lawsuits stemming from their involvement in the controversial warrantless surveillance.

Federal judges could dismiss lawsuits if companies can show they received written certifications that the White House asked for their participation and assured them of the legality of the surveillance.

I don’t understand. If Bush is an idiot (as all the liberals tell me), then what does that make the Democrat leaders of the house and senate who continually capitulate to him?

I pose this question to my liberal friends all the time, and the response is usually "F**K YOU!" or "I really don't like to argue with *#$%&* Republicans!"

No matter how low Pres. Bush’s “approval” rating is, we know Congress’ rating will be much, much lower.

"I really don't like to argue with *#$%&* Republicans!"

I guess that they would just like to all agree with each other than to actually have their belief system challenged.

To which I reply, "Ah yes, ad hominem attacks: the last refuge of the intellectually deficient..."!!!

Bush praises Congress for cooperation on FISA????

Instead of treating us as idiots George, you should have, at the very least, thanked Congressional Democrats lead by Pelosi and Reid for ending their stonewalling on a new FISA Bill which left the nation unprotected for over 6 months without the ability to do timely wiretaps on terrorist suspects!

and why in hell is the VOA calling it a domestic surveillance bill??? It authorizes taps on international terrorist calls into and out of the US!!
