Denver activated its first red-light ticket camera this morning, and will give drivers violating it a 30-day grace period to get used to the system.
Denver plans to increase yellow times at the three other intersections where red light ticket cameras will soon go live

Another revenue enhancement.
Another tax is all these things are. In Dallas, these worked so well that they weren’t generating enough revenue so they started ticketing people for “rolling” right hand turns on red. A revenue generator is all these are. If they were actually to enforce egregious violations, the tickets would actually count against your license, but they do not. As long as they don’t rock the boat too much and collect their money (with the state and the camera company getting a slice), the pigs hope they can keep this cash cow going.
Too bad they couldn’t put these things in every gas station, convince store, and parking lot instead...
evidence from the investigation indicated that longer yellow lights actually reduce the number of accidents at busy intersections. The only problem is, long yellows also have a negative impact on revenue,

No this sounds like a plan rushed into place to capture some out of town money during the DNC. If wonder if they will set the cameras early like some other places have been caught doing?
I have heard that people get used to the long yellows after a while and adjust their behavior so there is no improvement in accident rates. Whether this is true or not, it is CERTAINLY true that if you delay the green, accident levels are permanently lowered.
What are they going to do with pictures of whores---sell them to the DNC conventioneers?
This is NOT about safety. I hate the way these damn things are going up in every state. Damn it this is a scam! They are run by a for profit company.
Someone should not be ticketed (taxed) for being in an intersection when the light goes from yellow to red.
You really want to live like that? I don’t.

In Colorado, if you have one wheel past the stop line when the light changes, you have cleared the intersection and cannot be ticketed. It will be interesting to see if these cameras are capable of discerning that level of detail.
