Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it."
(Isaiah 30:21)

TOPICS: Culture/Society
KEYWORDS: america; military; pray; presidentbush
Dear Lord, we come before You in reverence, knowing that You are the only God, the King immortal, eternal, invisible. By the blood of Your Son, we approach with assurance of our place as Your children.

Father, we pray on behalf of our president, George W. Bush. We ask that You would keep him safe under Your wings. May his knowledge and love of You always increase. Be with him, Father. Whether he turns to the right or to the left, may he hear Your voice saying, "This is the way; walk in it."

Lord, we pray for our troops. Please encourage them and give them strength, and give peace to those who wait for their return. May You be their shield, and grant them victory. Lord, we pray that You would heal the wounded, and comfort those who mourn the fallen.

Lord, we thank You for America, and pray that we would continue to be able to proclaim Your word and lead peaceful, godly lives here. We ask for discernment and blessing for all those in authority over us.

Father, we pray for Your saints throughout the world. Be with each one, according to Your perfect, loving will. Lord, we know that all blessing, all joy, all life, all strength comes from You. We thank You for Your overflowing grace to us all, and pray that we would live for You. Be glorified forever, Lord, and Your kingdom come, Your will be done. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

AMEN SISTER AND GRACE TO ALL CHRISTIAN PATRIOTS!

Absolutely and without question

(J. R. Miller, “Home-making” 1882)

“If you love Me, you will obey what I command.” John 14:15

God is our Father and we are His children. We are to obey Him absolutely and without question. Yet it is no blind obedience. We know that He loves us with a deep, tender, unchanging love. We know that He is wiser than we, infinitely wiser, and can never err. We know that when He denies a request—that the granting of it would be unkindness. We know that when He leads us in another path than the one we had marked out—that His is the right way. We know that when He chastens or corrects—that there is love in His chastisement or correction. We know that in all His government and discipline—that He is seeking only our highest good. Our whole duty therefore as God’s children, is to yield ourselves to His will.

“If anyone loves Me, he will obey My teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” John 14:23

SOLI DEO GLORIA!

Amen to your most beautiful prayer, Irish Rose.

From “Pray for Our Nation,” Scriptural Prayers to Revive Our Country, Harrison House, Tulsa, Oklahoma ~

The Peace of Israel

Dear Father, I know that Israel is the apple of Your eye and that You hold her in the palm of Your hand. I know that soon Jesus will make His triumphal entry through the Eastern Gate at His return to the earth. Jerusalem will be the seat of government for all the earth.

I love Israel because You love Israel. I know that we have been blessed through her in the person of Jesus Christ.

Father, Jesus said that there would be unrest in Israel until He came again, because Israel will never know any real peace until the Prince of Peace returns. However, we are instructed to pray for the peace of Jerusalem so our prayers can help facilitate the events of His return.

In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray for the peace of Jerusalem continually. May we set ourselves as watchmen who will not rest until Jerusalem is a voice of praise in all the earth. Amen ...

Lord, I praise You on this beautiful Saturday. I pray with these fellow FReepers for Your protection of our President; not only physically, but especially spiritually.

Keep him from the evil one, take each thought of his and make it captive to You. I pray he will find renewed committment to You and to the nation he serves.

Direct him in his daily routines, and help him not stray from Your path of righteousness. Bless him for his stance against abortion. Bless him for his courage in standing up for our nation's rights to its own resources. Grant him favour in Your eyes, as You bring him closer to You through the prayers of Your people. Amen.

For Those Who Serve
Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the Word and doctrine! —1 Timothy 5:17

When my son Steve walks into a room, he often gets immediate respect. People want to shake his hand. They smile. They congratulate him. They thank him.

It happens at church. It happens in restaurants. It happens wherever he goes—as long as he is wearing his uniform of the United States Navy.

While in uniform, Steve gets instant respect because everyone knows that he is serving. He has given up many personal freedoms and desires so that he can serve his country.

People respect service. We honor police officers who serve. We pay homage to military personnel who serve. But do we give the same honor and respect to those who are in an even greater service—service to God? Do we show respect to our pastors, missionaries, Sunday school teachers?

Scripture tells us to give honor to whom honor is due (Rom. 13:7). Specifically, it tells us that double honor goes to those who direct the affairs of the church through teaching and preaching (1 Tim. 5:17).

Instead of criticizing your pastor, teacher, or spiritual leader, let others hear your words of gratitude and praise for their service. Hold them up in prayer. God’s servants deserve our respect and honor.

Putting It Into Practice
• Send a card or note of appreciation to your pastor.
• Thank your teacher for a lesson that helped you.
• Ask your leaders how you can pray for them.

We honor God when we honor our leaders.
