Some of the best humor can be found on FR. Where are O’s training wheels?

Newsweek's Andrew Romano notes today that when the shot of Obama on the bike as part of an excursion with his family in Chicago "hit the wires, the heavily trafficked right-wing message boards of Free Republic went wild."

Newsweek is jealous.

Hey, at least he's not in that Spandex weenie-wear that John Kerry rode around in.

Well, I see the LA Times has taken the gloves off and is going after this guy over the hard issues. It’s about time!

I don't see anything wrong with that picture.

Kermie, I mean.

No, seriously. What's wrong? Should he be wearing spandex, God help us?

I hate to say this, but I don’t see the big deal in what he’s wearing. Heaven knows I have been looking (in vain) for a bike helmet that won’t make me look like a dork.

I don’t see anything wrong with his jeans, btw.

Hate to defend B. Hussein O., but it’s just a bike ride for cryin’ out loud. Media needs to leave him alone. (he should have had Secret Service beside him, but otherwise, so what?)

I don’t see how this picture really hurts, except that it makes him look like he’s riding to his job as a Starbucks barista rather than Democratic candidate for President of the United States.

OK…I’ll admit: That’s pretty much exactly how I look every time I go out bike riding myself. Right down to the dorky helmet.

Yet in comments to Saltonstall, some Big Apple fashionistas cut Obama major slack. Simon Doonan, creative director of Barneys New York, says: "I like seeing my politicians in goofy weekend attire. It means they're thinking about more important stuff."

Oh give me a break! I'm sure they this forgiving to anyone on the right, "because they are thinking about important things."

I love the Kermit comparison! LOL! But I don't really think there is anything to "escape" here like this article portrays. He just looks like a dorky dad taking his kids out for a bike ride. Wait until he really starts campaigning. Then there will be tons of stupid photo ops.

Why would you need a helmet to go bike riding when he’s out for a little spin around the block with his daughter in tow (was she wearing a helmet). Just another example of the sissyfication of America.
