This will get interesting. One of the (unspoken) reasons to not require ID was to allow illegal aliens to fly.
I see. If you refuse to show your ID on 4th amendment grounds you will be punished.
But if “the dog ate your passport”, that’s OK?
Lewis Carroll would be proud.
Or Kafka...
I’ve had to present my driver’s license to board a flight going back to the 1980s when the airlines wanted to crack down on customers who were selling half of a roundtrip ticket (back when a roundtrip could be cheaper than even a single one way ticket).
I don’t see how anyone has been boarding a flight without ID for the past 7 years.
But somehow a person must be permitted to vote without an ID. Which has potential to do greater harm to this nation?
About 2 years ago wife unit lost her ID while traveling and was able to board a domestic flight with additional screening which was just a hand check of luggage and a short interrogation.
They should post a big sign that says, “If you don’t want to show your ID, just tell us you forgot it.”
... the Transportation Security Administration has announced that passengers refusing to show ID will no longer be able to fly. The policy change, ... will only affect passengers who refuse to produce ID. Passengers who claim to have lost or forgotten their proof of identity will still be able to fly.
¿Qué ID? No tengo ningún "ID"
Mi Burro comió mi "ID"
(my burro ate it)
I just flew overseas and obviously had to have a passport to do so. Even then, I was asked for my license at one checkpoint, was patted down at another and had my carry on inspected twice because I had left some water in my travel iron and it apparently looked suspicious.
I have to say that this last experience with TSA was the best overall in spite of the look-sees I had. The agents were all friendly and pleasant which was a change from couple of years ago when they were rude and snarky.
Yup. That is exactly what I expect of the morons and jackboots that run this country these days.
This country needs a low level format quite badly.
