Gay Unions Shed Light on Gender in Marriage (NYT nonsense)
New York Times ^ | June 10, 2008 | Tara Parker-Pope

For insights into healthy marriages, social scientists are looking in an unexpected place.

A growing body of evidence shows that same-sex couples have a great deal to teach everyone else about marriage and relationships. Most studies show surprisingly few differences between committed gay couples and committed straight couples, but the differences that do emerge have shed light on the kinds of conflicts that can endanger heterosexual relationships.

The findings offer hope that some of the most vexing problems are not necessarily entrenched in deep-rooted biological differences between men and women. And that, in turn, offers hope that the problems can be solved.

Next week, California will begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, reigniting the national debate over gay marriage. But relationship researchers say it also presents an opportunity to study the effects of marriage on the quality of all relationships.

I see, it's not "egalitarian" if a man and a woman play different roles in their marriage and the rearing of their children.

The surest way to discourage homosexual sex is to encourage homosexual marriage. (ducks flying frying pan)

Sodomites just want parody with those who reproduce to justify their perversion.

It's a coping mechanism for their paraphilic disorder.

Hilarious NYT style unintentional tautology.

Marriage IS and WAS gender until certain individuals and institutions took aim at it.

“A growing body of evidence shows that same-sex couples have a great deal to teach everyone else about marriage and relationships”

But of course. You had to know this was coming.

NYT style book: when you have specifics, cite them nonstop. When you want to fudge the facts, rely on phrases like a 'growing body of evidence.'

same-sex couples have a great deal to teach everyone else about marriage and relationships.

Don't you love the condescension? Gay couples are better - we've known it all along and now we can prove it. You've been doing it wrong all these years - never mind that humans and REAL marriage have, over the centuries, produced the the society that allows ivory tower Manhattanites to deign to tell us what we've been doing wrong.

I cannot tell you how much I resent their conceit.

“The stereotype for same-sex relationships is that they do not last. But that may be due, in large part, to the lack of legal and social recognition given to same-sex couples. Studies of dissolution rates vary widely.”

To cut through all the crap, gay relationships fall apart at a far higher rate, but we’re going to invent some reasons why we think they’re far superior. So take that, breeders!

Except that normal people can raise their own children, and thus honor their ancestors who battled so valiantly over the millennia to pass those genes forward into the future.

That is difference one.

And does this article shed any light on how Adam and Steve “rear” their children?

You were all thinking it - someone had to say it.
