Hundreds of new laws take effect in Washington state [More raving lunatics in power!]

Domestic partners registered with the state will get more than 170 of the rights and responsibilities of marriage, another step toward what supporters hope will eventually be full recognition of same-sex unions.

"It's an exciting step forward," said Josh Friedes, advocacy director of the gay-rights group Equal Rights Washington. "This new law provides a significant basket of new rights, nevertheless, the safety net for our families remain inadequate."

In a provision similar to California law, unmarried heterosexual senior couples also are eligible for domestic partnerships if one partner is at least 62. The provision was included to help seniors who are at risk of losing pension rights and Social Security benefits if they remarry.

Also taking effect is the extension of a controversial pilot program that allows cougar hunts with dogs. The program will last another three years, on top of the four years it has been in place. The bill also allows all counties to join the program, instead of just the five currently enrolled.

Supporters said the measure addresses safety threats that cougars pose to people and livestock, but animal-rights activists contended using dogs is cruel and unfair, and that the big cats' population is declining.

Voters banned the practice in 1996, by passing Initiative 655.

Another new law is meant to help protect the endangered orca. It will now be illegal to get within 300 feet of a southern orca, as is intercepting or failing to put a boat into neutral within that distance, or feeding orcas.

If this kind of insanity keeps up, God is going to destroy America! We wonder why things are getting so crazy here. It’s because we are fast becoming a godless nation. God finally destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of homosexuality. That was the last straw with Him. We would be foolish to believe He would do any less to us!

Read Isaiah 24:1-6 and see if it sounds familiar at all

There seems to be different prophecies that are suppose to happen 2012,while I don’t believe every prophecy that comes along,we certainly should pay attention to the end result. Homosexuality is being more and more accepted even by Christian churches. Abortion stands at 50 million deaths and still counting. Marriage means less and less in favor of adoration of the body and sex. Isaiah 5-20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil. And the constant abuse of Gods’ holy name all over TV,movies, books. It is true God is merciful or I do believe we would all be cast down by now.

Once again, the legislature overriding the expressed will of the people.

God won't destroy America. He won't need to.

You're right about that. We're going to implode, but I might add that He is allowing these things to happen to us because of our rebellion, and don't think for a minute that He's going to bail us out when it gets bad.

"Social security benefits"?
How can a state determine anything that effects my federal tax dollars?

It would've been nice if after the initiative in 96 that banned hound hunting for cougar, they'd have just shut down and when the state came back a couple of years later whimpering about dangerous cats... and letting contracts for professional hunters, they'd have just said "You catch 'em. Have fun."

People need to feel the impact of the stupid decisions they make. So what if a few children get eaten? The voters have spoken. They must be respected. Let them see the consequences.
