NEW YORK LAMBS OF CHRIST PRESS RELEASE
Contact: Mary E. Quinn
Please pray for A just outcome

Our founder, Father Norman U. Weslin, O.S.  will appear in Sarpy County Court House , 1210 Golden Gate Dr., Room 3  Papillion Nebraska at 1 p.m. Central Time for a bench trial.  His crime: Entering the security vestibule of notorious late term abortionist, LeRoy Carhart’s Nebraska killing center to pray with and counsel pregnant mothers in April.  Charges are trespass, refusal to leave when told, counseling pregnant women and telling employees that he will find them better jobs than participating in the killing of God’s defenseless children.

Father Weslin and his family created The Mary Weslin Homes for Pregnant and Unwed Mothers years ago where volunteers offer free medical care and board and room for pregnant women in crisis. Since then,  hundreds  of mothers have brought their children to term and are today leading healthy, happy lives.  Father Weslin was surprised to be arrested again because last April in federal court he was found NOT GUILTY by a jury of his peers for performing the same acts of priestly  concern  at Carhart’s killing center in  2006. At that time, the federal court did not place any restriction on his future behavior.

If  Father had been found guilty, he would have faced 18 months in federal prison, a $25,000 fine, and years of probation due to the infamous Clinton’s Administration’s 1994 F.A.C.E.  ACT’s penalties.   Father Weslin was encouraged by the jury’s verdict which indicated to him that the jury believed he was doing something good rather than committing a crime.  He believes that they agreed with him that protecting human life is good.

Since the Rescue Movement days, Father has been arrested over 70 times for trying to non-violently stop the killing of innocent children.  His last conviction was in 2001 when Father Weslin was convicted of violating the Clinton Administration’s  F.A.C.E. ACT . The suit was brought by  NY’s Attorney General Eliot Spitzer. Buffalo NY Federal Judge, Richard Arcara, ruled and allowed Spitzer to establish a "SIXTY FOOT Banned Free Speech and Religious Expression Zone" on a public sidewalk outside some upstate New York abortion mills.

Father challenged this arrogant abuse of power  by kneeling in silent prayer within  this NO CHOICE ZONE and Arcara found Father guilty.  (Father went to jail but Arcara’s NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH ZONE was later overturned. “The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said ‘Judge Richard Arcara went too far when the Buffalo jurist decided in April 1999 to greatly expand protest-free zones that had earlier been limited to 15 feet.’”(AP)

Father has spent many months in jail – his only crime – placing his body between the abortionist and the unborn American child -- trying to stop the killing of Jesus Christ’s babies -- while they are helpless and dependent on their mothers’ love and their father’s protection -- and our country’s promise to protect their Right to Life.

It would seem a perfectly legitimate behavior given the fact that Father Weslin had put his life on the line for our defense as a 20-year veteran in the U.S. Army and a Lt. Colonel, in charge of New York’s Nuclear Defense. He, like all our veterans, has been willing to put his life on the line for all our unseen posterity. Defending American lives was his Army career. As a Catholic Priest, defending Jesus Christ’s newly formed infants is his vocation.

Father says that although the abortion clinic would undoubtedly prefer it if their prospective patients were not reminded that abortion is an act with moral consequences, Father Weslin feels that getting the message across in a personal manner is of vital importance. By seeing him up close, a woman has the opportunity to see abortion opponents as the dedicated and peaceful citizens they are, rather than politically extreme radicals as portrayed in the pro-abortion media.

Father Weslin once wrote and his message is today:

“Do you think that this mass murder of innocent children is someone else's problem?  Do you think that you are too old to be out on a prayer vigil or a picket line.  There are wheel chairs, you know.  Do you think that you are too young?   Did you see all those youngsters come out for John Paul II in Denver?  In Washington and New York for Pope Benedict? There are many of our youth out there on the battle line for Christ.  Pope John Paul II told us in Denver in 1993:

"America, Defend Life!! “   "Woe to you if you do not succeed in defending life."  He said.   "America, you must come out of your comfortable lifestyles now -- and you must come out into the streets and into the public places -- and you must shout The Gospel of Life from the rooftops," he said.  "Do not be afraid," he said.  "Jesus Christ is with You!!"

He said:  "You must come into solidarity with the Victim -- the unborn child.  The dark horse is on the horizon.  Whenever human life is threatened -- we will stand up!!"  Our beloved Holy Father told us.

Mother Teresa told us: "Abortion is murder!!"

There's a mass murder going on -- of people you cannot see!!  Do you think of yourself as being too dignified to do something to stop that?  Am I laying a guilt trip on you?  I hope so!!  I am laying a guilt trip on myself also.  I don't do anywhere near enough to stop a mass murder of innocent people.  This mass murder of the little people that's going on!!  They are God's children!!  What are you going to tell God when you get up there? -- when He asks you:  "What did you do while the killing was going on?"  What will you say?  If you have no answer -- you're going to run to the rock to hide your face -- and the rock will cry out:  "No hiding place -- no hiding place!!

I was with Father Weslin in Atlanta City Prison in 1988 during the mass protests and arrests during and after the Democratic Convention. He was sent to SOLITARY for CELEBRATING MASS! It was forbidden for us to celebrate Mass in jail. He blessed my rosary and it is one of my most cherished possessions. God bless him and all the Lambs of Christ!

I understand and respect the Father's motives, but we are a nation a laws.

Flip the coin over for a moment.

What if a pro-choice activist refused to leave the vestibule of the Father's church and tried to convince worshipers that women have a moral right to terminate a pregnancy?

I think most Christians would forgive one or two episodes of that behavior, but after 70 arrests, most Christians would want that activist sent to jail.

Not me. When people are being killed, trespass laws no longer apply. I am all for laws, but I wouldn’t criticize a man for attempting to intervene in any sort of organized killing, whether it is a “private business” or not.

Three cheers for jury nullification! I’ll pray for it for this case.

"Charges are trespass, ....."

Praying is not one of the charges.

We have no duty to obey UNJUST laws like the slaughter of thousands of unborn babies each day.

If proaborts entered Father’s vestibule, they would not be saving human life, but prowling about the world, seeking the ruin of souls.

Father Weslin, on the other hand, dresses in rags, and spends most of his time fasting for the end of this evil, or locked in jail for having the audacity to offer women alternatives to killing their children.

we are a nation a laws

Laws that do not respect their fundamental Judaeo Christian origins merit no respect. They simply exist until they are overturned. IN the meantime however it takes heroes like Father Weslin to challenge the authorities of evil.
