Fine Could Rise For Failure To Scoop Poop

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The New York state Legislature has given final passage to a bill that would charge $250 for pet owners who don't pick up after their dogs in some parts of the state.

That would more than double the current fine.

Dog owners currently have to pay $100 if they don't pick up the poop. The change would apply to the five boroughs of New York City, Albany and Yonkers.

The Assembly passed the bill Wednesday and the Senate had already passed it.

A spokesman for Gov. David Paterson said the governor will review the measure.

Me too! My doggies can go wherever they like, except on the lawn. Can't be having dog logs on the lawn. Gets in the way of the croquet games.

I liiiike it!

Bring those fines here!

Got neighbors. who walk out the front door, walk the dog directly across the street to poop on the neighbor’s lawn, then walk the dog righ back across the street inside the house again. It is amazing to watch.

“Well I don’t want that in my yard” is the reasoning.

Imagine.
Their brain must roll around in their head like a bb in a matchbox.

So...what...they figure that everyone else is excited to have their dog poo in THIER yard?

Makes my blood boil to have someone come over to your home, intentionally allow their animals to deficate at your home and then just leave it there! And on top of all that try to make it look like you’re the one with the problem.

Gonna get some of that sugar free gum.
The chocolate exlax isn’t doing the job.

Friend of mine swears that you just need to train the dogs to pick up their own stuff and take it away.

Saturday morning make a big bacon & eggs breakfast.
While still hot, pour the bacon fat on the poo...it will be too irresistable for the dog not to eat on the next vist!

Decades ago, I remember that people walked their dogs in the street in NYC (anyone remember the “Curb Your Dog” signs?).

But now they walk them on the sidewalks.

Many immigrants parade along the sidewalks with their little yappers as a fashion accessory.

Dogs belong in the street.

Sidewalks are for people.

My brother lives in AZ and was getting real irritated because every morning there would be poo on the sidewalks. He was threatening all sorts of poo related payback if ever he discovered the one responsible.....then he found out it was coyote poo.....LOL

I walk my dog 2-3 times a day and never leave the house without a plastic bag in hand.... It is called respecting your neighbor....we live in a dog friendly neighborhood but cleaning up after your mutt is the right thing to do....

SO! The politicans are taxing it now, as opposed to merely eating it, as was formerly common.

I had a neighbor who did this twice a day. Everyday for a week, I scooped the stuff and saved it a bag in my back yard. When he next came over to my yard, I walked out the door, walked past him without saying a word and went and emptied my bag on his lawn. It never happened again.

I hear ya. Had some like that when I lived in the burbs....same type of people that don't merge early when warned about an impending end of lane. Some just think that they are entitled to more. Since I now live on 20 acres located 1/4 mile off the road, if I say that the dog would have to finish its walk alone. Or better yet, have the owner eat it at gunpoint....yeah, thats the ticket!

My dog is pretty well regulated, but I never take him for a walk or out in public without a rolled up plastic bag in my pocket...it’s simply a matter of common courtesy.
