And this will change the curriculum . . . . . . . . how!!??

Schools already don’t teach history, science, mathematics, reading, civics, or anything else of value.

They are doing one thing well, however. Children today are extremely versed in gay sex and how to put a condom on a banana.

(The practical applications of this skill have yet to be determined, though)

Actually, I do think English literature should be almost entirely dropped. I went to a “good” prep school, and in hindsight, the experience of being an 8th grader in a room full of other 8th graders discussing Chaucer has to have been one of the stupidest wastes of time in my life. Any time spent reading Chaucer at that age is also a total, except for a few rare adolescents who get the urge to read it on their own. Catcher in the Rye and other stuff we did in 10th grade was equally a waste of time. The only book I recall reading and discussing in an English class that wasn’t a total waste of time was Lord of the Flies.

English class needs to be about developing excellent reading comprehension and the ability to express complex ideas clearly and accurately in writing. And of course grammar, vocabulary, and spelling. Maybe a little public speaking too. Novels were meant to be read as a leisure activity, not as assignments, much less as topics for term papers and theses.

Perseverence, good work ethic, delayed gratification, integrity - those are the stepping stones to wealth, you dummy. Not you Downsblood. The comment is for White.

It figures. They don’t want the kids to know where they’ve been, so that the government can convince them to make the same mistakes over and over. They don’t want them to know where they are, or they might want to travel elsewhere. They don’t want them to know how things work, because that might make them able to make things and fix things and make a living, and they wouldn’t be dependent on meager government handouts to live. A total assault on the middle class. Communism doesn’t destroy the rich. It just makes the middle class poor. Everything Obama has said indicates he believes this crap too.

Jesse Jackson’s personal “Hall of Shame” citation includes:

“Hey hey, ho ho, Western Civ has got to go!”

One of his more notable performances was his campus visit of 1988. Spearheading multi-culturalists’ crusade against Stanford’s Western Civ core curriculum for freshmen, Mr. Jackson led protestors in a march across campus chanting, “Hey hey, ho ho, Western Civ has got to go!”

I just wonder if this is actually how the dark ages started and that mankind has been here millions of year yet continues the same cycle of growth and destruction.

At this rate, at least we know why mankind never invents time travel or, they never learned there was a history to go back to.

“Who’s going to develop the alternative energy if there are no scientists?”

They’re not interested in developing it, just whining about it’s lack of existence. The course will be about how to whine about things and following made-up science just to whine about those who don’t.

The progressive agenda applied to education, to the exclusion of parents, has been proven an abject failure. These ninnies can’t find their butts with both hands, and we expect them to ultimately rule themselves and others? Fat Chance.

Time to get back to basics, not push them farther from the mainstream.

The real reason Prof. White wants to do away with those subjects is he never understood them.

There is an automatic penalty that the universe applies to ignorance.

Totally. Stroke and distance - they're hitting 3 from the tee.

These skills should be mastered by the end of grammer school, excepting vocabulary, which is an all of life pursuit.

Will they learn that War is Peace? Freedom is Slavory? Ignorance is Strength?

Will they learn that Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia?

There is a lot of BS course work out there. I remember classes in mythology, scandanavian studies etc. I would much prefer my teen be exposed to small engine repair or welding, electrical installation or finance
