Green Stars: They Talk the Talk, But Do They Walk the Walk?
Fox News ^ | June 2, 2008 | Jana Winter

Hollywood's gone green — or so everybody says. Whether they're driving hybrid cars, shunning bottled water or making do with just one square of toilet paper, A-listers from Natalie Portman to Brad Pitt are joining the eco-chic bandwagon.

But who's really green, and who's just an imposter?

Laurie David, producer of Al Gore's Oscar-winning global warming documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" and estranged wife of actor/writer Larry David, has become one of the most widely known environmental activists. But Jackie Mendez-Diez, David's neighbor in celeb-popular Martha's Vineyard, Mass., told FOXNews.com she's a hypocrite.

"I normally wouldn't care, it would just be between neighbors, but this woman was going around the country telling everyone to reduce their carbon footprint, and I really objected," Mendez-Diez said.

"She built this reputation on confronting people about their lifestyle — about what kind of car they drive, about everything they do — and in her personal life she took 75 acres of undeveloped wetlands and developed swimming pools during a six-year construction project. It's ridiculous!"

A representative for David declined to comment.

I'm happy to be able to add that my guilty weakness (Keanu) while embracing all the silliness as ardently as any of them, at least walks the walk. Has a modest home, flies commercial constantly, and tools around on a motorcycle.

In case you’re wondering why Algore requires such a large aircraft, it’s because he takes his ego with him wherever he goes.

Indeed, John Buckley, managing director of Carbon Footprint, an eco-awareness non-profit group based in the U.K., says there are many stars who don't practice what they preach when it comes to saving the Earth.

Boy, that's...that's pretty hrd to believe.

It was not clear if McCartney knew the vehicle would be sent to him via air freight rather than by ship.

Note to self: When you have something delivered overnight delivery from 12,000 miles distance, it won't be coming by ship.

KIRSTEN DUNST? what is it people see in her. I see better looking girls at WalMart everyday. And, she’s not a great actress. Lucky, that’s what she is. But I’d love to hear what it is about her that turns you on.

I saw her once at the Chateau Marmont. She is TINY. I felt like I towered over her and I’m only 5’4”. She seemed a little jaded... she and her two girl friends were on their way out for the evening and their chatter in the ladies room ... just seemed a little disappointed. I can’t remember what they said, I only remember thinking she didn’t seem very happy. This was a year ago.

Green activist Leonardo DiCaprio reportedly flew his family from Paris to Rome on a private jet in 2006; he also reportedly declined a journalist’s challenge that he never fly private again, though he has vowed to fly commerical as much as possible. Ken Sunshine, who reps Leo, recently told the New York Post’s Page Six gossip column, “No star at his level flies commercial planes more than he does.”

Nice. Of course, none of us are on any of their levels. That’s why WE have to follow the rules.

I think the only hollywhore who truly completely submerged himself in the green lifestyle was ed begley junior.

While I have little respect for anyone who crawls through the septic sludge that is hollywierd, at least he isn’t a “complete” hypocrite.

I'm safe then. My guilty weaknesses are UFO shows and Martial Arts movies, especially the ones with Chow Yun-Fat.

“I saw her once at the Chateau Marmont..”

Wow I’m impressed. I think Belushi ODed there

She is reported to have said that she checked herself into rehab for depression, not drugs or booze. According to Page Six, she was behaving erratically before she checked in. I suspect she had Lohan and achieved a moment of clarity and decided to save her career.

Her decline coincided with her ex, Jake Gyllenhaal, hooking up with Reese Witherspoon.

Hypocrisy is the very essence of liberalism. The rest of us are admonished by the liberal elites to move our standard of living back to about 1920 while the elites will continue to live their lavish lifestyles soothing their environmental consciences with the purchase of phony carbon credits.
