No argument about that. People ....young people do make mistakes though . Not all are punished equally though, it seems.

Okay. Now what do you do if someone DOES have sex with someone they aren't married to?

Thank you.

We christians are really good at telling people, "Thou shalt not," but most Christians fail at telling why someone should not (other than God said so.) and seem unable to fix real world situations with any sort of righteous judgement.

Jesus exhorted the Pharisees to "Judge with righteous judgement" and yet most of his own cant.

I've dug through the CPI substitution charts for food over the last 30 years, and I'm pretty confident that our food is getting worse in the aggregate, not better.

I'd bet good money its related to hormones because the issue hasn't popped up yet in places with stricter standards. We prescribe steroids a lot, too.

I mean, this is why we use hormones in the first place, to speed up biological processes.

Whatever it takes to control her. She can have a bedpan and empty it herself if that is what it takes.

In 1958 a 13-year-old that fully developed was rare to non-existent. Has that gotten to be common today or what exactly??

I work for the school district, and let me tell you, it is very common for middle school girls to be fully developed. And unfortunately, most of the parents don't have much more sense than the father here, based on what I see these girls wearing to school.

Just to give you an idea of how early girls are developing these days, I have a niece that will turn 10 this month. She has already started her period and is getting past the "training bra" stage as well. I feel sorry for my sister and her husband over the next few years, having to deal with all of that. Fortunately, I have all boys...

Discouraging though, to know that at a conservative forum the idea will bring some catcalls

_________

No catcalls from me, but the notion that premarital sex is a liberal problem seems a tad naive. Haven't we seen enough over the years to recognize it as a human problem?

No, I’d disagree, general nutrition is much better than it was just 30 or 40 years ago. Yes there is more pre packaged foods, but we are far more understanding of general nutrition.

Girls will not have their periods generally until they are 110 lbs in weight, this seems to biologically be the weight at which biology decides she is capable of carrying a child. 100 years ago, girls would not hit this on average until they were 15 or 16 years old, now 12 or 13 is more typical.. or even younger.

I know there are those who blame various things, but what I’ve seen falls basically down to just simply better overall nutrition.

Here’s an idea. Don’t have sex with women you don’t know.

The people who lived in my house before I moved here had a 5 year old boy, I noticed that he was especially “rowdy”.

After we moved in, we discovered that the door knob on his bed room had the lock part on the outside of the door.

Take personal responsibility for what happens next, whatever it may be (pregnancy, STDs, statutory rape, annoying chicks that call you 20 times a day for the next week).

You're going to take personal responsibility for the consequences of their sexual promiscuity?

Oh, I don’t doubt that at all. Fair point.

BUT insofar as conservatism means respecting the nation’s good traditions and historical roots, the moral framework of the country’s founding was Biblical, and our moral tradition respects marriage as the proper sphere for sexual activity. It was liberalism, and certainly not conservatism, that produced the “sexual revolution” in whose ruins we walk today.

Plus: “fiscal conservatives” who like loose living overlook the fact that immorality is pretty darned expensive to us as a society.

Maybe more of an response than you were looking for, but it was a good question.

Dean's family admits Alisha still stays out late and has yet to delete her misleading MySpace page.

The Dean family is a public menace. The daughter should be in juvie and the Dad in the workhouse for reckless endangerment.

"No catcalls from me, but the notion that premarital sex is a liberal problem seems a tad naive. Haven't we seen enough over the years to recognize it as a human problem? "

Pre-marital sex, maybe. But promiscuity, free love, the "pill", jumping in the sack with that cute 19-going-on-14 year old - I disagree with you there - these (IMO) are posterboards for the liberal mindset involving sex. The conservative mindset stresses personal responsibility in everything, even pre-marital sex.

Yes. You need a license from the state to engage in sex.

This may sound strange, but it is no more than a driver's license. After all, driving is a more frequent activity than sex, yet we demand that every driver be licensed.

"You're going to take personal responsibility for the consequences of their sexual promiscuity?"

Don't you already (WIC, welfare, state funding for condoms in grade schools, state money going to Planned Parenthood)?

Looking deeper:

Sure, “liberals” love the idea of sticking your jubblies anywhere you darn well please and having someone else pick up the tab for the consequences.

But, they’re just the “useful idiots”. The reason behind this promotion is the destruction of the family, leading to more dependence on, and loyalty to, the state.

Libs, “1984” was a warning, not a suggestion.

"canine morality"

LOL

It's more like "personal responsibilty/self-respect" that's missing today. Values have gone to the dumpster, and at earlier and earlier ages.

The point of the law is to punish, and attempt to prevent, adult males from taking advantage of young, naive girls.

That clearly isn't what happened in this case.

So what law shall we pass to prevent sleazy young girls from taking advantage of men?
