The Wall Street Journal quotes the Washington Post to the effect that
. . . The rapidly improving conditions . . . ought to mandate an already-overdue rethinking by the "this-war-is-lost" caucus in Washington, including Sen. Barack Obama.
The Democrats were wildly short-sighted in their analysis of the prognosis for the development of an effective and reliable Iraqi Army. They acted on the assumption that if Iraq couldn't turn 18-year-olds into qualified and reliable noncommissioned officers in six months, they wouldn't be able to do it in six years.

On the current trend, by October the Democratic nominee will find that victory in Iraq, not his/her hoped-for "quagmire," is already an accomplished fact. Obambi's pacifism may sound a bit dated then.
