Interesting.
Michelle has done a lot of damage to the conservative cause with her seemingly constant calls for boycotts and taking offense where only she seems to see anything wrong.
Frankly, I think she figured out that calling for “action” gets her attention, and that means more to her than any cause or belief system.
Laura Bush, Hijab, etc.
“So, a culture that tells women they have to wear certain clothing is now being challenged by a culture that says that women cannot wear certain clothing that even looks like the clothing that might remind people of the culture that tells women they have to wear certain clothing.”
Nonsense. There is a world of difference between being against something and forbidding it. A store is free to hang a gay pride flag in their window, but I don’t have to shop there.
I have a friend who Michelle trashed without ever meeting him, and without knowing the facts.
So pardon me if I’m not too worried that my comments on her actions in this case might reflect poorly on her.
It’s a scarf, and this has done more to advertise the palestinian cause, AND to make conservatives look foolish, than any stupid Dunkin Donuts ads could.
On the other hand, I reject your characterization that I “trashed Michelle”. I faulted her for going overboard on this issue, which was a comment on her ACTIONS. I said nothing about her personally.
If the owner was wearing a shirt with a rainbow as part of the pattern, would you not shop there because the rainbow might be taken as a gay symbol?
I agree about Ann, she is too thin. But Malkin is a petite Asian, not even close to anorexic.
Cute cat picture.... What did all those words mean?
You mean OMG and Oh Noes?
The first is an Internet acronym for Oh My G_d. The second is Lolspeak for "Oh No!"
Lolspeak comes from Lolcats. Lolcats is where people post pictures of cats with captions in a special dialect called Lolspeak. The name of the website is I Can Has Cheezburger?". It even has a Lolspeak dictionary. Basically Lolspeak is just an imagining of the way a cat might spell and pronounce things if it could write/talk.
The anagram is my own creation (with a little help from the Internet Anagram Generator).
Does that answer your question?... :)
no. It was the Anagram that got me. I was confused and thinking ACRONYM. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what all those first letters were supposed to spell...
I had reeducate myself on anagrams and I see now...
Cute cat picture still.
Ah.
Actually, a sentence where the first letter of each word spells its own word is called an acrostic.
All of these similar “a” terms can get a little confusing...
....
....
....
Cute cat picture...
lol
“If the owner was wearing a shirt with a rainbow as part of the pattern, would you not shop there because the rainbow might be taken as a gay symbol?”
I might shop there even though I don’t know a straight man who would wear a shirt with rainbows on it.
Comments like that get you banned around here.
Well, since what Rachel Ray was wearing was NOT a keffiyeh, you shouldn’t have any problems with Dunkin Donuts.
Good.
Dunkin Donuts spokeswoman Rachel Rays clueless sporting of a jihadi chic keffiyeh in a recent DD ad campaign. Im hoping her hate couture choice was spurred more by ignorance than ideology. Is Rays blunder worth boycotting DD over? Ill be interested to hear the companys take. At this point, Im going to give the management the benefit of the doubt.
Doubt? Ignorance? Jihadi chic?
There ain't no doubt. The whole issue is so f'in dumb, anyone who starts with logic rather than chic conservative jihadi bashing would be ashamed to pour such slanderous garbage across a printed page and attach her name to it.
It is hard enough sustaining a vigilance against fundamentalist terrorism. Starting a war against every cute girl wearing a scarf is silly, and makes conservatives look dumb, dumb, dumb.
Benefit of the doubt? Conservatives do not sustain freedom by damning with faint praise like this. It is like saying I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you didn't rob the bank of $1M this time, which I utter against an upstanding citizen, a pillar of church and community, who lives and works across country from the robbery has never traveled to the city of the robbery, and has continued to live with modesty and frugality.
Once again, conservatives need to start looking in a mirror, examining their souls and asking themselves what image they are projecting when they write indefensible garbage like this.
