Well Susie, I *knew* it was only a matter time when good Republicans such as yourself now believe La Raza to be a legitimate political organization, with good intentions for America, and an organization that should be catered to by the Republican party.

How predictable is this? Good Lord!

I'm starting to feel like Charlton Heston in the planet of the apes. It's a mad house!

Did you even READ my previous post? I don't think La Raza represents all Hispanics, but they ARE a political organization, and they DO represent those who are political leaders in the Hispanic community. YOU claim that I think they have good intentions for America, and that I think they should be catered to by the Republican Party. I never said anything of the sort. The leaders of La Raza, like the leaders of the NAACP, have their own self-interests at heart. But Hispanic people and black people look up to those organizations, and if they perceive that the Republicans are ignoring, or worse, treating those leaders badly, they WILL turn against Republicans.

McCain does not have to cater to anyone, but he should show up, and make the case for the differences between himself and the Democrat candidate. Maybe some will listen, maybe they won't, but NOT going won't help the Republican win ANY votes, and will only poison the water for any future Republican nominees. Why on earth should the Republicans cede the majority of black and Hispanic voters to the Democrats?

You do not compromise with people or groups that do not have the well-being of this country or yourself in mind and keep your principles intact.

It is amazing, on a very conservative site like FreeRepublic, the number of people claiming to be conservatives who have had to twist themselves into pretzels with respect to their principles in order to maintain their support for the TURD of a candidate we now have for President.

You’re putting words in my mouth. I didn’t say anything about compromising with any group, simply show up and make the Republican case. I’m not twisting anything, but I will vote for McCain, because the alternative is too hideous to imagine. You don’t like McCain, that’s fine, but many of us who don’t particularly like him either find no problem in voting for him because we can see beyond our anger or mistrust to what awaits us with either Obama or Her Heinous in the White House.

Well, this is what happened to the Republican party. You've got people out here that have totally sold out their conservative principles to the point where they attempt to convince others that racist groups like La Raza are legitimate organizations.

How depressing is this?
