The child has an IEP. An IEP should address behavior issues and how do deal with them. Frankly if a teacher had done this to my disabled child who is protected by her IEP I would be taking serious steps to get this teacher disaplined. Yes perhaps the child does need a more quiet place, but the parents WERE working toward getting the diagnosis needed to possibly get a different placement. This teacher has overstepped the bounds. There is a time to get kids who have violent tendencies put into other prgrams but really kindegarden is not that time. Exactly how fast do you think a diagnosis of aspergars is made? Overnight?

I agree with you, my feeling is that during the IEP meeting the team members should have made accommodations for his behavior (the teacher was a participant in this meeting, correct?) such as having a shadow who helps him learn how to control his behavior. I have seen this type of accommodation be very sucessful in helping children with rather severe forms of Autism fit into the regular classroom setting with no ill-effects for any of the children in the class.

Oh my goodness, she's stepped in it now. Any attorney with 3 working brain cells will sue the county for millions and easily win whatever the parents want, which in my opinion, should be admittance to a school staffed by teachers who know how to handle children on the autism spectrum.

Well, you have more self-control than I do. Like I said on the other thread, if she pulled this on my grandson (also autistic, although not a behavior problem), I would personally kick her ***.
