Environmental extremists routinely assert a "scientific consensus" that global warming is occurring and that human activity somehow causes it. Environmentalists' mythical "scientific consensus" has served as a shroud by which they falsely claim a closed consensus to prevent any objective, scientific debate that might inhibit their POLITICAL agenda. That shroud was further torn asunder by a 31,000-strong petition organized by the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM). It stated, "a review of the research literature concerning the environmental consequences of increased levels of carbon dioxide leads to the conclusion that increases during the 20th century have produced NO deleterious effects upon global weather, climate or temperature." To the contrary, the OISM notes that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide have actually increased plant growth rates and concludes that "predictions of harmful climatic effects due to increases in minor greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide are in error and do not conform to current experimental knowledge."

This is exactly the right first step in countering this propanda. A very good next step would be an economic analysis of the consequences of implementing the global environmentalist agenda.
Too many folks think that we can control CO2 by switching light bulbs and slight increases in MPG. The environmentalists have avoided a direct discussion of exactly what cutting CO2 really means. Once folks realize that these reductions mean no a/c, no winter heat, no cars, tofu instead of red meat, etc., the environmentalist agenda will collapse.

Oh, and in the interest of full disclosure, I must add that I stand to gain a lot due to the polar ice caps melting. I will have beachfront property. Also, a warmer planet means paying much less for heat in the winter.

It snowed over four inches in Arizona yesterday, a record for May. If it’s alarmism that Algore and his deluded disciples wanted to spread, they should have been promoting the idea of global cooling, which would cut crop production severely and lead to global famine.
I sent this article to a “believer” about a week ago when it was mentioned on the Glenn Beck show. He said that he’d like to verify the signatures and wondered if there were high school security guards signing as scientists.
