OK.. A little logic here. First, oil is purchased from the ME, then shipped. Takes what a month?
That oil is then put into STORAGE tanks sorted by grade and stored for a period of time.
The oil goes through a few processes. How long?
Finally, we got gas.
So, if gas prices go up because of increase price of crude today- that gas wont hit our tanks for what a month? Ergo, they are making a killing during that month, while vilifying the ME and China and whomever.
We are being ripped off for sure folks, by the oil companies and others.
Magically prices hop before memorial day! I am not against a company making profits, but greed is greed. Unfortunately, we are defending them because conservatives protect corporations.

When Bush went crawling on his belly, groveling before those degenerate despots like a penniless junkie begging his pusher for “just one more fix,” I was disgusted with him, our Congress, and our nation.

Article on Bloomberg says the federal high administration says 4.3% fewer miles were driven in March and that hasn't occurred since 1979.

Americans will continue to drive less even more, shop less, eat out, go to movies, go visit, etc. as the price of fuel continues to skyrocket.

Other than that, there's not much I can do other than to empty my wallet to third world dictators so I can get to work because our country refuses to make energy independence top priority.

Oh, but there are plenty of other things that can be done.
I'm sure that an intelligent person like yourself could think of a few more.

The thing is, instead of pulling the curve down with such statements why not try to drive the curve up by giving some good examples of what could be done.

You listed some good examples, I'm not driving anywhere except work and not buying anything but essentials. I got a closer job a couple years ago to cut my commute in half., but those aren't a complete list by any means.

Yep. The socialist are in the final stages of their “big oil” takeover. The oil and gas companies are in the business of pumping out oil and making gas but the commy pigs are determined to make them go outside their business model or they will be put out of business period.

The commy pigs you refer to are the ones too that run over each other rushing to bed with (literally) Chavez and his ilk.

The Dems are after all the power and all the money.

The unfortunate part about these Commy Pigs are that they are still supported by idiots that keep them in office. All they have to say is “Bush's fault” and the masses flock back to them. These idiots will never learn.

I feel the same way....does anyone remember the
words by Russian leader (Kruchev?)...we’ll bury you?
It seems to me that the enemies have us over a barrel.
oil, at this time...If Congress ever got off their
(behinds) and put a workable energy policy in place,
before the economy tanks completely, we could beat these
diaperheads...otherwise...we submit to them and their
fellow Muslims..this is all planned..guys and gals..and
we are too ignorant to get on our haunches and stop
it. If I had my way..every incumbent (D(and)R) would
be voted out of office..and a new breed with only energy
on the agenda...be put in place..Jake

but those aren't a complete list by any means.

I also rage against the high energy prices daily on internet message boards. That's going to make a serious dent in the energy crisis, if my calculations are correct. The internet is serious business.

I thought the Democrats were going to take care of this when they became the majority? Instead gas has gone up almost $2 a gallon since they took over.

Thanks for nothing Democrats.

CA and FL do not. Justice would be served if drivers in those states had to walk.

Just the liberals please. In Ca. we have about 45% "R" who would love to drill, but the pansies won't let us.

Obviously you have never managed inventory or you’d understand the concept of “replacement cost”.

And FWIW, we get the majority of our oil from Canada and Mexico. The oil we get from the Saudis takes just over a week to transit to the US.

I think the states that produce oil should get to pay discounted rates for fuel. I can’t figure out why we suffer because of retarded citizens in other states.

If you own a gas station and buy 10,000 gallons of gasoline at a wholesale price of $2.50 per gallon, your cost is $25,000. If you mark your gasoline up 10%, then you charge $2.75 per gallon. You have $2,750 left (plus whatever other income you generate in your business) to pay all your bills.

If the wholesale price of gasoline goes up to $3.00 per gallon, you'd be a damn fool (and out of business very quickly) if you keep charging the same $2.75/gallon for the gasoline that cost you $2.50 . . . because the price you charge for the LAST 10,000 gallons you purchased doesn't just cover your current costs and generate a profit. It also has to cover the cost of buying your NEXT 10,000 gallons of gasoline.

Generating $27,500 of gross sales revenue on 10,000 gallons of gasoline when you know your next shipment is going to cost you $30,000 is a terrible way to do business.

I would make the case that “big oil” effectively became a government-run enterprise once you had the U.S. military serving as its security division for all intents and purposes.

When the price of crude drops and the price of gas follows in the downward direction, the same thing happens but the oil companies take the hit.

It works both ways. I suppose you would have a point if the price ALWAYS went up.

No, Canada is our single largest supplier but Saudi Arabia is #2. We get the majority of our imported oil comes from OPEC.

You are right. A family friend has a gas station. He said he needs to make at least 18-20 cents per gallon to be profitable. As more people are paying via credit card he said he will have to make even more. Credit card fees are killing his profit.

The fast increases in gas prices are helping him as per your example.
