Actually, a lot of those people who eat healthy and look healthy have a lot of issues. Greenland Eskimo’s have almost no heart disease and diabetes. They eat fish and omega 3 enriched seal blubber. All primitive humans had diets with 1:1, omega 3: omega 6 ratios. Modern humans now commonly have 1:20 omega ratios. The high omega 6 and saturated fat content transforms the cell membranes and dramatically reduces permability. Systemic inflammation, cancer, diabetes and heart disease are the indirect results. The wrong diet can be wreak its effects for a very long time without expressing clinical symptoms in some people.
Seriously, gyms are an unnecessary expense if you really want to keep fit. I walk to and from work every day (15 minutes each way, about a mile). I have a small yard, so I bought a reel push mower to keep it cut. You have to do it a bit more often, but so what? Exercise. Eat a reasonable diet of wholesome foods. It’s not rocket science, folks.
1) Weight Loss Clinic = eat less, weigh yourself daily to enfore eating less.
2) Exercise facility = push ups, jumping jacks, and running shoes.
3) Total cost = $0.00
“I eat like a pig but have a very fast metabolism I believe.”
I probably do as well. I still try to do things that I think help maintain that as I get older, though. I still eat good old Southern cooking and enjoy every bite. :)

Id say, eat whatever, but exercise a lot. With consistent exercise, when people see themselves shaping up, other things start to fall in place automatically, especially on the appetite front.
True enough.
I put a lot of blame on the parents. Responsibility isn't inherent in kids, they are taught it.
This girl died because her mother was irresponsible and happy to pass that irresponsibility along to her daughter. Makes me sick.
She was buried in a piano box as a coffin big enough couldn’t be found. The casket was wheeled to the grave by an end loader.
I am pretty much following a weight watchers type eating plan. I was on weight watchers and lost quite a bit in the past, (before the last baby). I have all the books to remind me about points so that’s what I have been following, I just try to eat less of the over processed grains.
(Homer Simpson voicce) “Mmmmmmm, blubber!”
Around here it is towel or feather.
Good for you, spotbust! It’s hard work, I know but it sounds like your very committed. Keep up the good work!
My problem was relaxing in front of the TV in the evening after dinner with my little bag of munchies. Now I quiz myself. Do I really want this? Am I really hungry? Usually the answer is no. If I do need a snack, I reach for a bowl of grapes or an apple instead of the chips. Changing little habits can make a huge difference. I think a lot of obese people simply lack the will to change their lifestyle. It’s no ones fault but theirs.
Oh, brother.
A decent pair of walking shoes is pretty cheap, and I haven’t seen a single sidewalk with a toll charge.
This is an age of mass marketing, mass production, and mass media. Compulsive behavior and instant gratification are encouraged for a lot of reasons. Moderation in anything, particularly eating is not an easy thing. If you eat moderately, then you should feel successful. Obesity statistics indicate moderation in diet is in the minority.
