That’s really funny, because the analogy usually goes the other way - “blaming guns for killing people is like blaming spoons for making Rosie O’donnell fat”.

Is anyone under the illusion that if an exercise facility was “affordable” to these people that they’d then use it?

Does anyone think that COST is the barrier between these people and exercise?

No, no no.

The CORRECT (as in, politically) terms are “Documented” and “Undocumented”. That’s because “Illegal” has such a NEGATIVE connotation to it. And we wouldn’t want to harm anyone’s self esteem, would we?

Obviously Gym membership is a necessity and must provide a tax deduction for monies paid to be a member at a gym or for buying gym equiptment for the home...

Affordable weight loss? The Sudanese must be spending a fortune, they’re thin as whips.

And what’s the current cost of walking around the block these days? $50-$60 bucks?

So, as long as we continue on this low/no-meat, high carbs, diet - especially high fructose corn syrup - we will be breeding a bunch of lard asses.

First of all, life is not worth living without red meat.

I consumed a 24 ounce, very rare Prime Rib last night, although I've been warned that I will keel over dead with my diet.

I'm good so far.

“It costs a fortune, but I’ve been buying imported Coca-Cola from Mexico. Real sugar!’

....sounds good to me....where do you get em?...anybody here remember the little 6oz Cokes back in the 1950s?...the ones that made your nose sting and eyes water when you burped?....now THOSE were real Cokes!

” blaming guns for shooting people.”

Sadly some people do that.

Local grocery chain. $1.79 for a 12oz glass bottle.

But it tastes soooo good.

Not I. As a two year member of a gym, I have seen a few “New Years” members who decide to get in to shape, discover that it is hard work, don't see instant results, and never return.

If it's not found on the perimeter of the grocery store, it ain't real food. I think Mike Huckabee said that. And he's right for once.

As some other posters have mentioned it doesn’t cost money to lose weight. Eat less, exercise more. I have been on a diet and exercise program for about 4 weeks now and have lost 9 pounds. I know that’s not break neck speed, but at least it’s coming off.

I don’t spend loads of money at a local gym or fork over half my husband’s salary on weight loss programs. I go to the local park, walk 2 miles a day ( am increasing to 3 miles this week) and eat half of what I did before. I cut back on carbs and only eat whole grain type carbs now. I eat lean meat and snack on veggies. I drink a lot more water and a lot less soda. If I have to stop at a fast food place, I get chicken nuggets (4 not 20) without the fries.

To keep myself honest, I relax a bit on the weekend and maybe have a treat, but a small one. I asked for prayers on another thread to help me with my resolve. One poster made a great point. Food should be looked at as fuel. It takes alot of the cheating desire away I find.

In 1969 it was the “youth” at woodstock sitting in the mud, unwashed, filthy, and waiting for the adults to bring them food.

In 2008 it is those same “grown up youth” now waiting for the adults to bring them exercise.

All I hear is excuses, they just want another magic pill. (one takes you up, one takes you down)

Government mandated beauty.

you can’t regulate specific food items because there are too many variables.

They are millions of lifetime skinny people who “eat bad” but are in perfect health.

The price of obesity and NO exercise is a short life. This helps the social security program.

Your post reminded me of one of my favorite lines from the comedian insult comic, Lisa Lampanelli:

"An Indian, a CASINO Indian, not a SLURPEE Indian...."

10lbs per month is plenty fast. If you go too fast, your metabolism will slow down..

You really want to learn how to eat for life, not until you reach a goal. I have found Weight Watchers will really get you in tune with what and how much you are eating. You get to make your own choices. One piece of pizza or a monster grilled chicken salad? You really learn a lot about food and what makes you gain weight. Plus, you don't have to buy their program food to make the program work.
