Tom Loeffler, the national finance co-chairman for Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign, resigned yesterday because of his lobbying ties, a campaign adviser said.
He is the fifth person to sever ties with the campaign amid a growing concern over whether lobbyists have too great an influence over the Republican nominee. Last week, campaign manager Rick Davis issued a new policy that requires all campaign personnel to either resign or sever ties with lobbying firms or outside political groups.
Regional campaign manager Doug Davenport and Republican convention chief Doug Goodyear departed after acknowledging having represented Burma. Eric Burgeson, who lobbies the federal government on energy issues, left Thursday. GOP consultant Craig Shirley parted ways with the campaign because of his ties to http://www.stophernow.com, a site created to target Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) that is now aimed at Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).

Understood, brother (or sister)and I ain’t arguing with you, but at this point (it’s only MAY), things look they are getting WORSE, not BETTER, in terms of McLame: what’s a poor boy from Iowa to do?
I don’t know why but I can’t stop laughing about this stuff. It’s like watching a train wreck in extreme slow motion when the trains are still miles apart but nothing or nobody seems to be able to stop them.
I’m sorry. I should give a damn about this why?
Personally, when I look at politics now, I don’t really look at the individual or what they stand for.
I just look and try to understand who will do the least amount of damage to the country, then hold my nose and vote.
In this election, probably McCain.
In this manner it is hard to be disappointed in the indivual person.
They know that when there are enough pieces on the ground,
That is the best time to strike.
Sometimes, pieces on the ground can be a bad thing.

That is your God given and constitutionally protected right to do: one must, as Reagan would say, “vote with their feet”. In this case, it looks like the majority of Republicans and conservatives will be voting with their noses.

McLame will, in all probability, be a one term POTUS because of the age factor. So instead of working to change the Republican party from the inside, they'd far rather behave like 3rd graders.
If ObaHamas is, in fact, elected because these crybabies stay home, you will know exactly who to thank.
It is also noteworthy, that these same lamebrains pulled exactly the same stunt in 2006 ...exit stage left one Sen George Allen and Sen Rick Santorum. That really worked out well, wouldn't you say?
Having grown up in a Third World country where the vast majority of the population did not have the right to vote, the fact that, in the US, ANYONE would stay home or write in a candidate who has no chance of winning, is shameful.
I cant stand McLame. He is, however, committed to protecting this country, protecting our allies, he is committed to Israel and he is committed to nominating justices like Chief Justice Roberts. And that, for me, clinches it.
Not doing everything in my power to avoid an ObaHamas or Clinton presidency, is unthinkable.

Ok, I'll admit that I'm getting right fed up with all the guilt-by-association smears that have been leveled in this presidential campaign. It's a low tactic, and normally one reserved for the last inning before the election--a desperation play, when you're six points behind and have the ball on your own 18 yard line with 6 seconds on the clock. Hail Mary!
Who works for a candidates election is incidental to the bigger concern many of us have with all the major candidates this time around. As much as they try to distance themselves from Bush, they promise more of the same, sailing the ship of state on essentially the same dangerous course, only with a different crew. And their combined diplomatic experience is roughly equal to that of G. W. Bush's when he was governor of Texas, minus his executive functions (and Texans have always shied away from giving their governors much to do in that realm). We'll be in for a rough four years if any of the three gets elected president.
As for your stophimnow.org suggestion, it's a good idea but with a name like that the site could as well be to stop Obama, or to stop Rev. Baldwin, or to stop former congressman Barr. It's a little ambiguous.

Hardly. At best, he will replace a few lib judges with a few other lib judges. I don't see any of the conservative supremes going anywhere in the next 4 or 8 years.
We gotta quit selling the fear mongering and start giving people a reason to vote FOR our candidates. As much as I dislike Obama and Clinton, the world will not end if either is elected. And for that matter, I'm no less concerned about our world under a McCain presidency.
Ouch, some of those clips would make great negative advertising this fall... possibly for the Democratic candidate but more likely for some 527 group (to keep the nominee’s hands clean).
It will reinforce the image of McCain as out of touch.
I agree that this guilt-by-association gets overdone. The MSM find it easier to play “gotcha” than to analyze serious issues.
BUT — this is nothing new. It should’ve been expected that this would happen, and these guys with conflicts should never have been put in positions where they’d expose the Republican frontrunner to the “gotcha” game in the first place.
