Jim Oberweis launching a charm offensive is like Rosie O’Donnell launching a seduction offensive. He is an arrogant, abrasive personality. What does Oberweis plan to do, keep on running until he’s spent his entire fortune? If he had any sense, he’d get out while the getting is good.

He's a businessman who generally has strong principles. He's not easily swayed. Generally, he stands for quite conservative positions and he's got a heck of a lot more conservatism in him than his predecessor.

If he's our candidate there, I sure hope he wins this time.

The smartest thing that he could do is get out and let a truly better and stronger conservative R run for this seat instead! But, I truly don’t see him doing this, and the R’s will end up losing this seat again on November 4. The “Obama factor” in the entire state of Illinois should, in and of itself, be a wake up call for all R’s there to truly field the best candidates for every political office at every political level if they seriously want to win in Illinois on November 4.

You should have stopped at “He's a businessman”. I think a lot of the people from IL won't forget how he compared Catholics to the Taliban on Dahl’s radio show.

What part of “Go the F**K away !” doesn’t this asshat get ? Look no further as to why we’re not going to win back Congress anytime soon. If this party can’t decertify perennial loser RINO scum like Oberweis in what should be a SAFE Republican seat, how do we expect to seriously contest ANYTHING else in seats far more Dem-leaning ?

Talk about bad comedy. The fact that conservatives (esp the Minutemen activsts) tout this bum as the great conservative hope is laughable. Oberweis supporters blame Lauzen, McCain, and Hastert for losing him the seat. The Oberweis campaign actually expected Hastert to carry him to victory. Oberweis is a candidate that deserves to lose.
